many of the videos predate common use of CC and the VBI data may not have been preserved either in the recording itself or the MP4 rip. i think automated speech-to-text + manual verification may be the best way to go

it'd be cool if you can search these by transcribed text. i.e. you'd search "conan o'brien" and get any video where someone said his name. i might run whisper speech-to-text against them and make a little search engine for these.
