Trying to write books for everyone seems to me a surefire way of writing bad books. I’m not interested in writing books for twats. I write books for the cool and nice people whose company I know I’d enjoy if I met them in real life. I’m entirely comfortable with twats hating my books. Bring it on.

In each case they're not learning the craft, they're not solving problems, they're not gaining experience doing the thing.
They won't be any better at it than they were the day before they hired the improv comedy group that sometimes tells them to kill themselves
A person who loudly brags about using GenAI to write, is not an actual writer.
A person who loudly brags about using genAI to make art, is not an actual artist.

He'll wag his finger now and then and go "Ooooohhhh...", puff his lips, then stomp back and forth, then wag his finger again, and repeat.
"We're going to see angry Starmer" and it'll be Starmer trying to clench his fists and occasionally stamping his foot and making what he thinks is an angry face but is more the face of an unpopular substitute teacher trying to assert control over a classroom he never had control of to begin with.
Happy 80th Birthday to Tim Curry, a guy who treats every single part like it was the role he was born to play.
there's a pervasive belief on here among combative people with cartoon avatars that any criticisms they receive are because of their marginalized identities and not because they're at the party acting rude while dressed like donald duck
One of the most infuriating things I've ever seen on this site is so-called "allies" deadnaming and misgendering Caitlyn Jenner because the leopards are now eating her face.
Just because a trans person supports the far-right does not give you an excuse to be transphobic and start deadnaming and misgendering them.
A new study from UC Santa Barbara shows that watching experimental animation expands creativity and opens new ways of seeing the world.

turning off reposts in the following feed almost fixed this entirely
Headline in today's Guardian that reads "Reading and writing can lower dementia risk by almost 40 percent, study finds. Cognitive health in later life is 'strongly influenced' by lifelong exposure to intellectually stimulating environments, say researchers."
This is why you need to be reading books and writing your own emails, by the way. When you outsource your thinking abilities, you risk turning your brain into soup. Heavy dependence on AI has already been linked with severe cognitive decline. What you don’t use, you will lose.
When a PM says he's not going to resign, I always expect the opposite for some reason. Can't think why...
"Starmer won't resign over Mandelson vetting row"
Okay, starting countdown to Starmer resigning...

Trying and failing to log into Bluesky for 80 straight minutes so I can make a post about how the website is bad
I honestly can't remember why I was in the room while everyone was watching Fargo in the first place.
I saw Fargo when I was about 4 or 5 years old. The adults were watching it on VHS and I remember parroting some of Steve Buscemi's swearing and everyone going 'No, don't say that!' And yes, I do distinctly remember the woodchipper scene, though I don't think I understood what was going on.
"Writing with [insert stylistic quirk] is a giveaway that it's AI."
"You can tell this drawing is AI because [insert stylistic quirk]."
My sweet little children, WE DID THOSE THINGS FIRST. AI didn't invent the Oxford comma or the em dash - we used them correctly, and AI *stole our work*.
I think this Simpsons short has brought me the most joy of all of them

"Girls when their dress has pockets" A meme showing several vultures standing with their wings slightly out. They look like women with their hands in dress pockets.
My niece is an accomplished seamstress, and no matter how complex or amazing her clothes are, whenever other women see her work they immediately say, "Oh, it's got pockets!"
It's a goddamn conspiracy.
God, Wes Streeting is such an oily little creep.

*I was either trying to write "the Times we live in are Hard" or "because we live in Hard Times", and I think the streams crossed while writing the above, hence the word order being what it is.
"We need to get across our message that nothing will fundamentally change, and in fact will get worse because we live in Times are Hard, because we are a Serious Party that MUST make hard decisions, and--why do they keep slamming doors in our faces?"
