After sitting on this, my take on the best setup: remote work, with 2x year onsites. Get everyone in a room together to discuss long term goals and build relationships, things that are difficult to do digitally. Then let people go wherever they work best and let them get it done.

It's ironic how little true observability is available to most mobile devs when apps they build so badly need it.

Fickle users? Unpredictable hardware and system resource availability? Chaotic runtime environment?

Good luck knowing what's really going on in prod without context-enriched telemetry!

the experience of making bluesky has been like planning this elaborate fucking party with fireworks and a sick dance floor and ten different magic shows and then people walk in 6 hours early and go “nah this is good it sucks out there”

Haze 1.0 Haze 1.0 is a powerful library for achieving background blurring effects within Jetpack Compose and Compose Multiplatform apps.

Haze 1.0 💠 has been released!

This is a big release, not only because of the version number, but also because of the amount of changes since the latest stable release.

We tested out the fix without forking Compose, by relying on a non suspending breakpoint and running the fix as a side effect of evaluating logging code.

I love doing that trick.

Building a Kotlin Multiplatform starter pack. Still working through followers and finding other folks on the platform. Lots of people joined recently, so I'm definitely missing accounts. Ping me with suggestions! go.bsky.app/2oR84o6

Version 1 is for you A few weeks ago I was at our company meetup in Montreal, on stage in a big room in front of everyone, sharing progress on two brand new products in development. We went one at a time. First Product 1 ...

That's good wisdom. If you have a problem and you build a product that solves it, make sure you love the product, and it solves your problem the way you like it. You can build upon it and tweak it later if it reaches a wider audience.

Monaspace An innovative superfamily of fonts for code

Some of these font features(?) look pretty amazing.

As someone who looks at fonts all day I appreciate it.
