for the longest time I've kind of hoarded the creators I follow for "inspiration", but more and more of that drive has shifted internally and I don't need it as much, it's really refreshing.

I've been unfollowing non-moots little by little and keeping it more narrowly focused.

I've been taking a break from social media, I feel like my feed is just full of frustrated people, and content for frustrated people... I'm like yup time to read some books instead

i find it very alarming that most people see AI as impartial, but in reality its so easy to make a biased model with some minor tweaks to the system prompt

sometimes I feel very "overlooked" when people who fit the mold end up falling into success without much effort...

when you're "different", things like that can happen, but that's ok... carving your own path *is* much harder, but you're also not subservient to the social Ills of broader society...

I wanna get rid of "normies" from my vocabulary, it sounds like that's what everyone's supposed to be. I think they're actually mentally unwell. Instead we should call them one-dimensional people or something like that.

oh thats smart! yea could have an alternative non-flashy version as an unlisted vid linked in the description 🤔🤔🤔

I know you can just throw a CW on but to me it feels shitty, like saying "hey I'm fully aware you exist, but I don't care enough about you to make my work accessible..." I feel like we can do better than that but idk

I wish someone would make an infographic of different patterns that can trigger photosensitive epilepsy... I want to make intense visuals that won't kill people but idk how...

yesterday on my way down to my hair appointment I saw a soju truck with a giant anime girl on the side and I think this encourages drunk driving

oh yea maybe it'd be good to do a larger project and split profits tho! like some sort of filmography or the like

This may also mean changing up what you're making so people are willing to pay for it, and doing less independent work.

As an example, if you're an artist, you could team up with a writer to make a manga together, or with a programmer to make a game.

I don't totally know what the "best" models are, but some things that come to mind:

- selling physical goods (ie stickers)
- digital goods platforms like bandcamp, vimeo, ko-fi etc.
- member-only content platforms like patreon
- ephemeral places like livestreams/events

That does mean that you won't be able to reach the largest audience possible, but personally I think it's totally fine to focus on a smaller, dedicated subculture. This is closer to what you see in Japan's fan culture and it's always been a thriving scene. Post teasers and then gate the full work.

I think if you're an artist or a creator, it's really important to start putting some kind of "gate" behind your work if it's possible.

If you're relying on platforms that use subscriptions or ads, it leaves you vulnerable to AI companies scraping your work in its entirety for very little effort...

half of me is like "if this space doesn't allow people like me to thrive, I will simply abandon it and not support it" but the other half of me is like "well if people are making me upset, that's a vulnerability that I have to overcome" and idk which approach is "right" (it's probs a lil of both)

hmm yeah I think you're right, it does seem like there's a lot of legal pressure on the payment processors to ensure they're not funding illegal content. I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't a combination of factors though.

yes, but more broadly this is why credit card payment processors are going after adult content

too cute 🥺

big reason for this is that adult content is very regularly charged back when it shows up on people's credit card statements for their spouses to see

hopefully won't affect LGBTQI+ content but the world is very unpredictable as of late...
