European import prices for oil and refined products rose by about 50% in 2022. Given the substantially larger disruption to oil markets if oil exports from the Gulf continue to be cut off, price increases would be much greater.
The #Hormuz blockage is keeping 20% of global oil supply off the global market: this amounts to an annual loss of up to 1,000 million tonnes of oil exports.
