I went to see Project Hail Mary, based on a recommendation from one of my students.
From the first contact scene onwards, I cried, and cried, and cried, and cried. And then I cried some more.
This was genuinely funny and genuinely moving. And it looked great too.

We've been reading through Arthur Ransome's books, as a gentle, positive end to the day. Today we went and found some of the locations.

I've just horrified my lovely beauty therapist by describing a PhD Viva, and a PhD. As I was doing this, it dawned on me that PhDs are, indeed, quite bonkers, full-on things and why would ANYONE actually sign up to do it??
