this reminds me that connor storrie is an incredible voice actor in addition to regular acting because his ilya voice is insane, it doesn’t sound pitched down from his normal range at all imo on top of doing fantastic accent work

or like even though they’re similar in pitch, i find kamiya’s levi works much better than mercer’s levi because he has a certain nasal quality that befits a smaller slimmer man purposefully lowering his vocal range

i find english anime dubs in general have a hard time casting male tenor voices, or maybe i’m too instantly attached the JP voices that i expect for all the dubs to pitch-match… its just sometimes voices are way too chest-heavy for slim bishounen guys

i think some of the witch hat atelier english dub is really quite good but IM SO SORRY JOSHUA WATERS…. IM ACTUALLY ALLERGIC TO POSH BRITISH ACCENTS 😭😭😭😭(says the sherlock holmes stan) or more accurately i think they’re playing qifrey too ‘suave hot british guy’ and less ‘motherly male teacher’ imo
