What's the reason everything is 10 years behind in ZS?

Well other than "bc I wanted it to", it probably has to do with 9/11.

The reason why 2012 is bc that's the year I created ZS as a teenager and just kinda....kept it in that year lol. However I also made so many references to Y2K-era culture that it became a core part of the identity and didn't want to scrap it. So I said "why not both?"

I imply that ZS takes place in the early-mid 2000's, but it ACTUALLY takes place in an alternate version of the year 2012! In this version, culture and trends were stunted by a decade, but things like tech are still accurate to the 2010's

I don't have any silly jokes to post abt my comic today like "Zyra Slash is an MLP fan comic now", but just know it doesn't need to be april 1st for me to be a clown about my OCs 🤡
