Yes--I think one of the open questions is how we get the NEC to update accordingly.

The UL1741 certification will be hard (impossible?) to get. However, there are already inverters that prevent backfeeding, as I understand. Pearce's study has a mention of these.

Rep. Ray Ward is building a runway for balcony solar in the US.

May interest @henrihorn.bsky.social @balkon.solar and @sbamueller.com

I would love to talk to anyone about the effort and how to help set up the rules for success in Utah and the country!

It was really fun speaking with @tnorris.bsky.social about interconnection queues in the US. Why is it that it takes *so* much longer to get new energy capacity online in some parts of the country? What can be done about it? Tyler is truly the #1 expert so well worth a listen! #energysky

Jonathan Koomey and team have a nice discussion of the limits of the 1MW ~ 1000 homes in this paper.

TLDR: Mostly ok, but cautions apply to the 1MW ~ 1000 homes around the boundaries.

Cities are a fairly good example for folks. But I worry about the shift from industrial/commercial into residential. Isn't that deceptive? Seems like comparing apples and oranges.

It's like comparing professional sports with recreation leagues.

Yeah--not a good market in that scenario. Lots of market power obvious if RE is excluded from capacity mechanisms.

Clearly a problem when Gov. Shapiro had to ask special favors from the RTO to reconnect TMI.

It seems like a better place to end up would be rethinking much more of how RTOs operate their markets.

ERIS as the focus with an ORDC-style price adder seems better to me?

Time for a 3rd generation of capacity markets and FERC straightening out the economics behind the scene.
