Pace of global warming has nearly doubled since 2015, reveals study - Carbon Brief An acceleration in human-caused global warming could see the Paris Agreement’s 1.5C limit breached before...

I'm not suggesting this is an open secret within the climate science community, but it's remarkable how little impact this sort of research is generating. Because if the rate of warming really has *doubled* then you can kiss goodbye to 2°C. www.carbonbrief.org/pace-of-glob...

Archives matter - but not to the Carney government. Canada has only ONE federal funding program for community archives, and they just killed it. Gone.

How ICE Already Knows Who Minneapolis Protesters Are

A Minnesota woman observing ICE agents in her car was cornered on one-way streets. An agent approached, called her by name—citing facial recognition. Days later, her Global Entry and TSA privileges were revoked, with no explanation.

New: We estimate that in 2025, US greenhouse gas emissions increased by 2.4%, marking a change from the prior two years of decreases in emissions. Emissions also grew faster than the economy in 2025, reversing the decoupling of emissions and economic activity of the prior two years.

These subtropical air masses that reach the PNW keep getting warmer and wetter as the climate warms as a whole.

Yakima, WA has reached 70 degrees today, the only other 70+ in Dec was 72 on 12/1/2021.

The atmospheric water vapor content is near record highs for Dec, increasing rainfall amounts.

Image from UCSD/Scripps depicting the persistent atmospheric river over the northeastern Pacific. It shows the accumulated "integrated vapor transport" over time, in this case of a 72 hour period, which is an indicator of the accumulated moisture transported over a multi-day period by this weather system. West of Washington, the values reach the highest numbers on the chart--denoting a strong to extreme event on a 3-day basis.

Widespread significant river flooding has already developed across western Washington as a series of extremely warm & moist #AtmosphericRivers move slowly across the region. This flooding will further worsen tomorrow as strongest part of AR moves ashore. #WAwx [1/3]

China recognizes that energy storage is completely transformational for the electricity grid & thus for society as a whole. And so it is investing!

People used to say, with great confidence, that variable renewables could never safely provide more than 5% of grid power. That estimate has crept up ever since, though the "great confidence" part never wavers.

Anyway, about China ...

I think it’s naive to believe that this will hold Smith back 🤣🤣🤣. What are the odds that she has some half baked plan to create a private investor, corp, etc etc.? I’m not saying the odds of her success are 💯 but I am sure she is working to succeed here. Or do you think this is all theatre??

4 months ago 0 0 1 0

Oh he understands it. Ergo he can’t plead ignorance. Which makes it all the more a black mark on his conscience. With each of these moves people keep expecting him to appear a magical energy transition/climate policy genius rabbit out of his hat based on his bio and espoused “Values”… 😬

I can’t help but think this is going to become a political quagmire. Or maybe a grenade. I suspect carney will certainly not come ahead when all is said and done. And I think Smith will go to great lengths to push this through/finance it for her political gain/optics vs. public interest/economics.

Thank god climate protesters are indulging their “nostalgic” desire to stabilize the world’s climate to stop our kids’ summers from being even more smoked-out and carcinogenic. And for wanting to keep the climate stable enough to grow food reliably & stop climate-volatility hike food costs. 😤😤😤

So true… de facto banning renewables and kiboshing renewables worth billions isn’t quite getting out of the markets’ way exactly is it? 🤔 Also, putting all eggs in the basket of pricing carbon may have helped curb emissions sufficiently two decades ago. This late in the game, I just don’t see it.
