Truly when @maxgladstone.bsky.social & I wrote the book to ostensibly contain the multiverse we did not foresee it finding a mirror in the world of its reception

Right: [reviles academia for generations, celebrates deportations for writing op-eds and protesting, dismantles departments it doesn’t like, enacts de jure speech codes]
Left: [is sometimes annoying and unserious]

There are some important things to remember in terms of Awards-shortlist day etiquette. A short thread.
Even folks I really like and respect make some blunders on this stuff.
1) Allow people to enjoy the shortlist. Avoid dismissing the finalists (whomever they are) for at least a month.
I would like a Secretary of Defense who has read one (1) book. But yes.
The lineage of serialized stories you jump into is also not short. People (myself included) focus on Campbell and Kurosawa but leaving Alex Raymond (creator of Flash Gordon) out of the Star Wars formula would be a failure.
See also, Buckaroo Banzai.
The Lost World (in fact everything by Doyle) is public domain. You _could_ do a Lost World/Professor Challenger story.
You're thinking Hancock et alia?
Who is DEFINITELY the goddess of furries.
I was going to ask you to justify Apollo given his diverse domains. Nicely done!
(Also, the irony is excellent given the name "Lightbringer.")
But what it comes down to is this: do you think the duty of confidentiality exists to protect the *appearance* of proper behavior by judges?
Or is it supposed to protect the *likelihood* of proper behavior?
When I spoke to Judge Scirica to try to get some understanding about what duties I actually owed my judge, I was told that I did not owe any duties in the case of misconduct but I couldn’t tell anyone anything to figure out if misconduct had occurred without potentially violating that duty.
That suggests any of you have sanity left...
Lords of Icedeep.
Huh--my copy of Lords of Waterdeep has gone walkabout. Did I lend it to someone?
(I half expect that given that I now say something, it'll turn up, too.)
I thought it was an appropriate moment to scatter rushes on the floor but I've never known how to reed a room.
Do you really think I would call it the KBAle Amalgamation instead of the KBamAlegam?

Can confirm that @kbspangler.com and @alepresser.com exist and are not the same person!
The Three Stages of "oh, good grief."
Have any American trans people--esp. trans masc people--with a passport that misgenders them done much international travel? I would very much like to hear about your experiences.
(context: I want to travel more, but the F on my passport vs. very much reading as male freaks me the fuck out)
“A Piece of the Action,” the episode from the original Star Trek series when they went back the gangster era of the 1920s, was set about 40 years before that episode was filmed.
Yuuuuuuup.
I don't have too many regrets though. I got to live in Japan.
Hard same. So I got into trademarks.
I went into college to get a comp sci degree, and came out wanting explicitly to go to law school for IP. And the degree has served me well, not just for my time doing patent work!

This is, unfortunately, the median American voter. Politics is a thing that happens on the TV, not in their daily lives.
How spooky. You might even call it super--

Any other Jewish merch designers out there? Make sure to plug your work in the quoted post 🙂
You are getting really close to the words that will resonate in the hindbrain of Tumblr ca. 2012...
The LDS Church is suing the owner of Mormon Stories for trademark infringement.
Mormon Stories is a podcast founded by a then-member of the LDS church, who had a crisis of faith, decided to stay...and was eventually excommunicated for his podcast.

I always intend my puns.
Sometimes I don't know I've intended them until I say them.
