The reduction of human worth to a numerical coefficient has the regrettable effect of conflating quantity for quality. The accumulation of unlimited wealth is a relation the terms of which are never satisfied.

Dow Jones is a false positive. Profits accrued to previous investors without collateral. When the market goes up that money isn't really there. When it goes down those are real withdrawals. The principal becomes thinner and thinner until it is no longer sustainable and implodes.

Lifetime tenancy was somehow a conduit to eternal truth. Time has proven Hamilton wrong. The supreme court has become the most coveted partisan jewel at the highest echelon of power. Life tenancy leaves the process of succession untethered and malleable for corruption.

The founding fathers believed that once appointed to the supreme court the justices would arrive at verdicts tempered by reason. This required complete impartiality. Hamilton argued that a lifetime appointment would raise the justice above partisanship (Federalist #78).

Humans could solve the riddle of the universe. We now treat that transcendent realm as a mental construction always in need of re-evaluation as conditions evolve. The product of a defunct Cartesian theory of correspondence.

They are codified as the principles of liberal democracy; sovereignty, the social contract, liberty, property, and the general will. Their validity was vouchsafed by humankind’s ability to construct universally valid mathematical puzzles- the foundation of logic.

Any court that aspires to be the guardian of democracy must have its verdicts comport with a transcendent realm in compliance with reason. The content of these reasonable verdicts were laid down by the philosophers of the enlightenment during the 17th and 18th century.

The vital functions assigned to the senate should have made this flaw a non-starter. The hidden pitfall of a constitutional republic which is improperly organized and administered.

The idea was to give each state an equal voice in the legislature. The result was institutionalized inequality. A coalition of less populous states will eventually result in minority rule.

The senate produces an unfair numerical disadvantage. The founding fathers could never have envisioned a United States with a population of 340 million spread across 50 states. The most populous state with 40 million, the least populous with 660,000.

I was at this Lou Reed concert. I still listen to it on a regular basis.
