This is the Boundary Waters. It's a million acres of wilderness with 1,000s of lakes with water so clean you can drink it. Today, the Republicans in the Senate are trying to sell it out to a foreign mining company.

Call your senators today at (202) 224-3121 and tell them to vote no on HJR 140.

I did this last summer. I called it my Swedish Death Cleaning garage sale. On the second day, I just gave everything away.

I remember an episode of Trading Spaces where they glued actual hay -- the livestock kind-- all over the walls of someone's home.

I know someone with a 2 year old Collins. I keep forgetting that the child is a girl. Perhaps a future androgynous name?

They have a schedule; they plant in one section of the city per year. So it may be several years before your neighborhood is on the schedule. We got a permit (free) and bought and planted our own blvd replacement trees.

This is why I keep the emergency down throw by my side of the bed. I can reach it and toss it over me without getting out of bed.

Kids did not go on expensive field trips in the 70s. the big one for Girl Scouts was to take a school bus the 60 miles from LaCrosse to Prairie du Chien to visit the robber baron mansion Villa Louis and the Fort Crawford Museum of Medical Progress. I think I did that one 2 different times.

The is the federal government telling news stations to provide favorable coverage of the war or their licenses will be pulled.

A truly extraordinary moment.

Those suburban providers get a ridiculous amount of subsidy per rider. Another way the core cities pay for the sprawl lifestyle.

interesting that it wasn’t 8 arrests *of actual undocumented immigrants*

interesting in the same way we built camps that could detain anyone, rather than ways to more effectively find, process, and deport undocumented folks

it’s “policy by other means” — the policy being ethnic cleansing

It was $$$$, but our bucket list thing in Homer was a fly-in tour to Katmai to see the bears. It was amazing. The 8 hour cruise out to the glacier in Seward was also really good.
