We were doing some crazy work to get to 1 draw call per character (runtime mesh merge) and the Uber shader for it to be a single draw versus merging it and being a call per section was the exact same, sometimes faster depending on the master material per slot (skin, hair, eye, pbr)

Side note. Draw calls in dx12 don't seem to matter (as much) but the nanite calls most likely do. Thoughts?

This is so hard. All my nanite have trim sheets which could work well, and the foliage could be good for all the non interactive bits.

If you're making a tool in Unreal that needs to update a material instance that has its editor open. Here's a nice little line to get it done. It's a bit slow, but works real nice.
