One of many problems I think labour has faced over the last 2 years has been how inexperienced many of them are in government. And it has led to avoidable mistakes. At least miliband is someone who has some previous experience that he can fall back on.

But what frustrates me about labour is they don't seem to realise the conditions we are currently in are different from 5-10 years ago. The bar/opposition are lower. But they don't seem to want to seize the opportunity and bring real change. Which is why I think the greens are appealing to so many.

I also don't believe the negatives that hindered him in 2015 would necessarily hinder him in 2026. We are in a different time and space. And he is older and wiser etc etc.

The underlying structural problems of UK politics that the country doesn't have the resources to do everything expected of it and a Westminster class in denial about this doesn't go away in the event of a new PM.

Starmer might deserve to be replaced. I dont really know. Whoever replaces him might be an improvement. Or might not. But the whole situation makes me wonder when are we going to fix all the problems that face the country. Or are the problems we face so systemic that we will keep facing these crisis

The more I pay attention to the Government (& on the one hand I don't think I pay *that* much attention, but on the other hand I've just watched over 2 hrs of Olly Robbins giving testimony to a Commons committee) the more I think the big issue is Morgan McSweeney being *hopelessly* out of his depth.

Contrarian opinion: I think people do broadly understand that we are placating a mad emperor across the pond, and rule-books were being torn up all over the shop

(I’m not saying it was a good idea, but that circumstances arguably demanded bad ideas)

Starmer seems stuck in a time before tiktok, WhatsApp etc and often delegates/trusts those things to other people when he does not know or understand.

I was a fan of starmer once because he seemed a sensible progressive alternative. But unfortunately I've realised that part of his weakness is he comes from an older generation that does not seem to understand how new media works. He seems detached from the reality of parts of modern experience.

Partly the reason the electorate is so impatient now is because social media and 24 hour news channels. News moves so fast now and hours of air time has to be filled. I vaguely remember a time when the public would not be updated on the news for a good few hours each day. And it did not harm us.

This discourse is just so far removed from my reality, I can't begin to process it. I have never missed a flight and the thought of doing so (with or without kids) fills me with rising anxiety.

Why would you risk it?! What could possibly be worth the hassle, stress, expense and panic?!

Coachella is trying to wipe all of the footage of The Strokes protest set so I’m gonna post it here. The last images on the screen made me cry.

They are not motivated by fairness or morality or logic. They are mainly motivated by tribalism. Their guy winning and your guy losing. Then claiming power and keeping it. They cannot see the hypocrisy.

i am a pretty basic straight man so i do get things wrong when it comes to feminism and listening to women generally, like a lot of men do, but this concerted effort to make women seem like they're too angry over nothing when there are clear and present dangers all over society is just insane really

strange these op-eds about women being too angry have all come out the last few days when during the same time there's also been a massive investigation published on an online rape academy with millions of viewers a month and none of them have bothered to even cover it, even as news

A proper game of football, this one, berween a team that should have wrapped up the title already and another which should have been demoted to League One a long time ago.

Frimpong certainly does not inspire confidence at right back. But kerkez has been looking better and better. I am inclined to think the problems at liverpool can be found further forward. Their pressing from the front this season has been much worse.

“Rape Academy exists for one explicit purpose: to teach men how to drug and rape…

Read that again. 140 million hits in just two months.

This is not a collection of unrelated bad actors. This is a pattern.”

“The right wing is on the decline. People are realizing that they have no vision or solutions, just hatred and empty slogans. All they’ve brought to the world is war, inflation, inequality, and social division.”

I want to be proved wrong but my opinion of Lisa nandy has collapsed since labour came to government.

Reminds me of all the timewasting his team did against Liverpool and still ended up getting beat.

"I would rather w**k with a razor".

Pretty clear response from bloke in Wales when asked if he would consider voting Reform...

The man from Reform (who took it in good spirits tbf) is Zak Weaver, a former Tory staffer who defected in February.

I've recently noticed this is an american Conservative talking point aswell. They also like to complain about angry young women voting for the wrong party. I assume the uk conservatives are mimicking the Americans on this.

Which is why I think I sometimes find myself getting confused when I hear a party promoting a policy in one part of the country that I assume will alienate voters in another part. As if they are trying to conduct 650 different conversations and they don't think voters can hear the mixed messages.

I assume it is encouraged by the president and the board. They have complained so often in recent years it seems instinctive for them to strop whenever anything goes against them.

While I know really young people are few and far between on Bluesky, I’d still like to talk to an under-25 who’s been looking for (or found) a job and AI was part of the recruitment process.

DMs are open if you know someone and they can talk, incl anonymously!

This is an extraordinary story they deserves much more airtime. Shocking in so many ways. Share widely.

I was thinking if anyone should leave liverpool in the summer then it should be richard hughes, as far as I can tell. With hindsight the biggest mistake was selling luis diaz and not buying a like for like replacement. The squad was unbalanced and we have looked disjointed as a result throughout.

This is what happens when FIFA set a precedent for exploitative pricing. It becomes a free for all where fans are fleeced left, right, and centre. In Europe, lawmakers must join forces with @fanseurope.org and Euroconsumers to make this illegal in future.
