This is what the #BraveOfUs do - stand with and for truth, for life, for liberty.

Rotunda of the US Capitol where people are standing, many in military camouflage, holding signs that read "End the War on Iran" among other messages.
The #BraveOfUS stand up and confront power and that's exactly what @vetsaboutface.bsky.social is doing with 150 veterans and active duty military in the Capitol rotunda right now to demand Congress end this criminal war on Iran.

The #BraveOfUS speak out against injustice with loud voices and in clear terms. Concentration camps are places where civilians are held without due process and that is precisely what's happening here and now. #CloseTheCamps
The Brave of US speak the truth. Bravo to this principled lawmaker who understands that "leader" means someone willing to go first.
The claim, I'd argue, more complex than that: to extent anything reliably brings down authoritarians it's sustained resistance & defiance (boycotts, protests, defections). Fear is huge impediment & there's evidence ridicule does puncture it. It can also garner attention - precondition for persuasion
So true. The headline utterly contradicts the piece. Authors, sadly, don't get to pick and often aren't even consulted about headlines.
I guess the solution to fascism is to smile more.
"Comedy 'deflates the strongman’s image as invincible'.... And an authoritarian regime...depends on that image: it leaves the other pillars of society – big companies, law firms, universities – too scared to oppose it." @anatosaurus.bsky.social in @theguardian.com
Maybe now centrist pundits can concede we can condemn this one thing and still not lose the midterms.
Oh, look at that. Now "Rape Academy" has entered the lexicon.
I guess "a woman scorned" is too small potatoes and we've become so inured to men's horrific behavior - or so admonished that talking about it will impact the midterms (note - you can't vote if a man murders you) - that we now require greater impetus to have hell's fury.
On the one hand, the increased unbridled fury of women (albeit in clearly leftist corners of the internet) is long overdue and much welcome. On the other hand, it seems to have required discovery of 62 million men (yup assuming that) checking out rapists abusing their wives for cash.
Mocked up postage stamp with an image of a mother in profile holding a baby and kissing their cheek. In the background, the US flay and butterflies. Below the image the word "TPS for Haiti Saves Lives."
One step closer with today's House vote! #KeepThemHome
Celebrate every win, honor every courageous fight kudos to the tireless work of Haitian Bridge Alliance and FLIC, among many others, who organized us to this place. #KeepThemHome
It's astonishing how wedded people are to the idea that refusing to name what's happening is how we overcome it.

This is a perfect response.
Most of us are aware that authoritarians don't wait till the day of to steal elections, they rig the rules in advance to ensure they can declare themselves winners but we're supposed to keep saying our elections are presently "free and fair."
Most of us know that we honed the tools and tactics now used against communities here through countless attacks abroad but we're told to focus on how bombing Iran is expensive not a crime against humanity.
Most of us can tell that abducting, assaulting and then forcing immigrants into what fits the legal definition of concentration camps is well underway but we're told to call them "detention facilities" lest we turn off white working class voters.
Most of us can see clearly that a desire to control women (including free license to abuse) is at the heart of MAGA's project but we're told not to say too much about this because we need to be appealing to lonely young men.

BRAVO!!! Rep. Pressley's bill has been discharged and the final vote is tomorrow. Rare moment to pass something positive!

Winning any debate starts by setting the terms and one key way to do that is to pick for what you'll be attacked.
Welcome, Gov. Hochul, to sudden popularity boost.
Just as "abolish ICE" helps exit the dominant frame that ICE is "law enforcement" which suggests it could be reformed, concentration camps makes clear these things have nothing to do with policy/law/safety. They are evil and must not exist.
Our ongoing refusal to name what's happening has helped enable it. It is far easier to convince voters these are concentration camps (they are) than to convince them we don't need "detention facilities."
Concentration camps. If objective is to close camps, voters must view them as vile & without any merit. Many voters believe "detention facilities" are necessary for law/safety. Plus they fit legal definition of concentration camps (which is NOT same as extermination camps.)
