I don't get around to reading too many books that aren't in translation these days, but I read Xiran Jay Zhao's Iron Widow this weekend during commutes... So freaking good, y'all

J-Novel Club has announced at Anime NYC that they’ve licensed for their J-Novel Knight imprint Chiwako Fujiwara & Enaga Shima’s Finding My Way to (You) in This MMO World
Talking about it like this because I'm fairly sure I'm going to stay home tomorrow, but considering my impromptu adventure back today, who knows lol
Had a great time at AnimeNYC this year! I'm also proud of myself for actually like, managing to talk to some people too 😅 I wish my commute in and out was a little easier, but it was way better than previous years. Maybe I should consider other big cons in the future, hm...
J-Novel Club has revealed 9 new light novel titles and 4 new manga titles launching today, including The Fearsome Witch Teaches in Another World, Looks like a Job for a Maid!, and more.
Sorry I don't post on here very much (I basically live on my fandom account), but I'll be at AnimeNYC later this week! Hope to see some of you there 😄
Update: I am regretting this (and also having to double-check terms like "décolleté")
"digital asbestos" is fantastic framing.
Edited most of a part today, but I ran out of brain when I hit the "steamy" scene. Certainly I will not regret this tomorrow when I go back to it...
(I absolutely will, because editing those takes two or three times as long as normal passages. Sorry, future me.)
my hottest educational take is that schools should actively, non-punitively teach students how to admit when they don't know something, aren't sure or have made a mistake, with various teaching frameworks adapted to support this ideal, because people who can't admit fault are breaking the world
On the off chance anyone here is interested in a 100-level ticket for Stray Kids in NYC tomorrow night for $250 (a chunk less than sticker price, could negotiate maybe?) do reach out 😭 I have one extra seat!
I don’t post online this account very much (I'm usually on my fandom bsky and I don't like to cross the streams), but it's always very nice to find y'all that I've worked with over here 💜
Dancer Felix for your timeline #fe3h
Aww, thanks for the offer! I am already booked that weekend anyway, so this is more of a "dang, I need to think about this for next year" for me 😄
Dang, Otakon has so many jfashion guests this year! I will need to try to get down there one of these years.
Here's the full list of 2025 Screentoney Award winners! Thank you everyone for submitting awards and celebrating the extremely talented folks in this industry!
Ope, Legend of Exorcism V2 comes out this month! I should...finish V1.
If you are too tied to gmail, then go shut off the smart features to disable all this. I did it a week or two ago and I really don't feel like I'm missing anything at all.
On the off chance anybody else is interested in vkei, looks like the Matenrou Opera and NoGoD live next month will be livestreamed! The ticket includes on-demand replay until July 5th~ www.matenrou-opera.net/post/live-%E...
Saw Kamijo perform in NYC tonight - awesome, awesome show! Wild to realize that I last saw him here almost exactly 10 years ago at the very same venue - found my ticket from then: June 6, 2015.

Don't take this job! They will pay you peanuts to "edit" a TL that's so flavorless/confusing you'll have to TL the whole thing all over again from scratch bc machine TL can't deal with nuance, metaphor, idiom, personality, or any of the other many human elements that come together to make a story!
An incredibly important skill REQUIRED for being a mentally healthy successful creative is to practice going "That thing isn't for me, but I'm really happy for its apparent success!"
Spending energy on hating things and making that your personality always leads to unhappiness or self embarrassment.
Two muscular arms clasped in solidarity. One says translators the other says editors. "Hating machine translation" sits in the middle.
Hello Bluesky.
Closing up some stuff for the year today. While it's discouraging that my secondhand sales were way down, like, I didn't get back to it very quickly at all after the move, so I can only be so annoyed cuz that's my fault lol. Still got rid of a triple-digit number of things though
