Caledonia GO Station (Barrie Line) continues to take shape at the Line 5 Eglinton station of the same name. Looks like most grading work is complete, and actual station construction should start soon.

GO 2.0 is everything “new” from now on
New speed improvements and transit priority are speeding up Toronto’s Line 5 Eglinton. I just did the end-to-end trip in 44.5 mins, down from 55 mins on opening day.
- that’s ~19% faster
- we had to wait for a few lights
- opportunity to reduce times even more w/dynamic TSP
Grimsby GO Station is advancing! This infill station on the Niagara/Lakeshore West Line will provide GO rail service to a community that trains pass through daily. Lots of transit oriented development potential too. More here: www.niagararegion.ca/transportati...
Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow confirms that enhanced signal priority is now being rolled out on Line 6 Finch West, with Line 5 Eglinton to follow soon. A huge step forward to maximizing the transit user experience on our new LRT lines!
Eglinton East LRT re-design? Toronto’s 2026 budget quietly includes a direction to explore grade separation and underground segments for this at-grade-only planned project. It seems like the Line 6 Finch West LRT experience is an influencing factor here. secure.toronto.ca/council/agen...

Awesome shots! Have you shared on X too yet?
One of the Ontario Northland Railway's new Siemens passenger trainsets passed through Hamilton today on their way north. It's a pretty attractive train!
New transit dollars for Waterloo Region, including $115M from Canada, $96M from Ontario, and $80M from Waterloo. Biggest ticket item is full Phase 2 funding for the Kitchener Central Transit Hub, connecting GO Transit, LRT, and busses. More here: www.canada.ca/en/housing-i...
Canada is moving ahead with the first leg of ALTO high speed rail, between Montreal and our Capital Ottawa. Chosen for its easy geography, this segment of HSR will cut travel times on this route to under an hour from 2 hours today. www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...
Since Transit Signal Priority is a hot topic right now, here is a reminder of why. In a since deleted Q&A post from Metrolinx, they outline that the TTC essentially kneecapped transit priority on the Finch LRT and Eglinton LRT. We need to push Toronto to do better!
BREAKING: Toronto’s Line 5 Eglinton (Crosstown LRT) has achieved substantial completion and has been transferred to the TTC. The project is expected to open in the coming weeks.
Service levels are: opening day, trains every 4m45s; after 6 months 3m30s. news.ontario.ca/en/release/1...
Interesting stats from GO Transit’s 2025 Wrapped. What stands out is the Milton Line, once GO’s number 3 most-used route, has dropped to 5th. This is because of significant new weekend service being added to the Kitchener and Barrie Lines, whereas Milton has just peak service.
New maps this morning on a Toronto rocket train. TTC Line 5 Eglinton and Line 6 Finch West coming soon!
This weekend while the Barrie GO Line was shut down, crews installed a pedestrian tunnel at Bowie Ave for the under-construction Caledonia GO Station. This station will connect to Line 5 Eglinton Caledonia Station, making this area a great future multi-modal transit hub.
Bathurst Street #RapidTO at Queen Street. We love to see a better Toronto being built one bucket of paint at a time. #topoli
St. Clair West Station. We might be almost there.
Toronto’s newest flatiron, 1071 King, a rental building by Hullmark. As seen from the GO Kitchener Line.
Here is a video of GO Kitchener Line, Union Pearson Express, and Line 5 Eglinton trains operating at Mount Dennis Station. It will be one of the best-connected transit hubs in Toronto. It also includes a massive TTC bus terminal.
West of Mount Dennis, the Line 5 Eglinton West Extension is progressing. Here at Jane/Eglinton, we see the elevated guideway being built. This intersection will also be home to an elevated station (which will likely be called “Eglinton Flats”?).
Mount Dennis GO/UP Express station is officially open. A community without rapid transit options is suddenly only 16 mins away from downtown Toronto. Now, we wait for Line 5 Eglinton to open to “complete” this transit hub.
Any guesses where I’m headed?
Another Line 5 Eglinton observation re: speed. While driving, I “raced” a train between Sunnybrook Park Station and Pharmacy Station. We essentially kept pace with each other the entire trip, despite the train having to stop at stations along the way. Traffic was medium (6PM).
