We are helping a few folks set up marketplaces. I know some are also being listed on Cloverly. Mostly bilateral deals at this point.

It's been a particularly moist couple of days here in the Bay area. I know you're playing the world's smallest violin for us, but we even had a tornado last week down in Santa Cruz!

No we just noticed it for the first time in seven years! Just kind of surprising!

I was thinking of putting up a barrier of sorts but yeah probably not worth it.

Question for heat pump peeps. Is it possible that the condensation on this window is from the cold air being blown at it from the HP outside? It’s the only window in our house with this issue.

This is pretty rad, except I kind of think you'd want the teeth going in the other direction.

Looking sharp!

The gorgeous condenser for a Mitsubishi 3-ton heat pump installed outside our home

Excited to be up and running with our new cold climate Mitsubishi heat pump! It's paired with electric resistance backup heat that will keep us toasty for those coldest few weeks of the MN winter. Now we just need to replace our gas range and disconnect that gas line.

The only thing that helps is actual decarbonization. If you want to buy offsets, do it from a decarbonization project like a heat pump.

We Wish Buying Carbon Offsets for Your Flight Helped. It Doesn’t. Carbon offsets for air travel sound like a great idea—a get-out-of-jail-free card for frequent flyers. But they cost too little to be worth much.

Yeah, that tracks with my experience too. Have you tried to frame the cost difference as between the fossil fuel and the clean alternative? Let's say the fossil fuel equipment is 20% cheaper, but you only have to count the extra cost to justify the carbon ROI, not the whole thing.

I get the snark, and it’s deserved, but shouldn’t Entergy get more scrutiny? I mean, at least Meta is buying some RECs, useless as they may be. Entergy isn’t even pretending to do the right thing.

This is very astute. Electrification doesn’t always have a $$$ ROI, but can be the biggest carbon saver per dollar spent. It takes willpower to go this extra mile.

I get the feeling that nearly everyone opining about Syria actually knows nothing. I certainly don’t. Since it doesn’t fit neatly into any of our existing narratives, you end up with a bunch of weird takes. I wonder if there’s a potentially good outcome possible?

I do wish that other EVs besides Tesla made a compatible home plug for a 220. This is so annoying.

Home charger installation day. Been putting this off to see if we could get by on public infrastructure. It works, but I can’t get the app to recognize the device.

That’s right. And predict imminent failure so you can get it serviced before you lose heat

Thalo Labs is working on sensors for monitoring heat pump performance. I don’t think I’ve seen Brendan on here yet.

I can’t decide which benefit of a 50 mile ride I like better: the afternoon nap or the infinite calories I get to eat.
