Picked up an XP-Pen Deco Pro a couple weeks ago and I've been trying to actually learn to draw. Color is still a challenge but I'm getting there. Black and white shading always felt more natural to me, which probably explains Lacrimosa's art style. Here's where I'm at.

Built this for VTubers or streamers to show off their BGM or for karaoke streams. Type a song title, it finds it. Tag it as original, cover, karaoke, or BGM. Hit push live and it shows up on stream. Simple as it should be.

Thanks! I really like the style, and think it fits my project pretty well too.
One thing I love about this art style: the crosshatching does double duty. Depending on how you use it, it's shadow in one spot and texture in another. Gray base, some hatching, a highlight or two. Simple, but it just works for Lacrimosa.

All of this is 2D. Raycaster renderer, built from scratch in C++. No engine. Just math and darkness.
Long-term, ambitious, built on age-old techniques. This is Lacrimosa.

Made Please Don't Play in a week from Tokyo, solo, C++/SDL2/Emscripten, no engine.
First game jam entry in months. First time building a full troll game. First time the narrator made me feel something while writing his dialogue.
Feels good to ship again. More coming soon.

Yeah, 5px is not going to cut it for Japanese. I think Pokémon Red and Green had 8px font, even with just katakana😅

I know the issue well lol. I was planning to make my jam entry have a Japanese language toggle, but adding a completely new font would've taken ages, so i scrapped it for now😅
