A big shout out to the beautiful is-it-hot-right-now for Germany! esistwarm.jetzt
Built by Sebastian @f45t.bsky.social, a totally new set of visuals, data and code inspired by our site isithotrightnow.com.
I love the visual style and the new spatial maps. Check it out!

I hear UK IsItHotRightNow is now live 🎉 istheukhotrightnow.com. Congrats, it looks awesome!
So isithotrightnow.com has now expanded to UK, Spain and Germany, each adding their own fantastic new features. We'll have to try to keep up :)
Thanks very much Tim!
Oh cool! I love that the concept behind @mlip.bsky.social, Steefan Contractor (are they here?) and @jamesgoldie.dev's isithotrightnow.com is going global.
It's such a brilliant idea and so well executed.
I noticed that… strange. Hopefully they are still rolling it out.
A hyperlocal temperature heatmap of Sydney showing a temperature difference of about 15 degrees C from West to East Sydney
Interesting new feature of windy: hyperlocal city temperature heatmaps: www.windy.com/heatmaps/syd...
I haven't seen this before, but temperatures estimates seem reasonable compared with obs: www.bom.gov.au/nsw/observat...
What year was this published?
Abstracts welcome in urban weather and climate studies over cities, including modelling, observations, mitigation, health implications, machine learning.

I was frustrated a few years ago when BoM closed down the La Trobe St station after 106 years of continuous operation

The rules set by the World Meteorological Org (WMO) mean they try to avoid any urban effects in observations. But that's where a lot of us live!
Yep, we would love to get more "local" but are limited to locations with a good long term record (we use ACORN-SAT from BoM: www.bom.gov.au/climate/data...). But if you have any suggestions for additional locations, send us a message and we can include them if they are in ACORN-SAT.
you've almost certainly seen this already (or maybe I found it from you!) but one of my favourite websites: isithotrightnow.com/places/melbo...

Please to say that (last month!) I started a new role at UNSW and Weather of the 21st Century, working to improve land processes for high resolution climate models, including cities. www.21centuryweather.org.au
To be fair, there's a few places that are bloody hot today, like Geraldton topping out at 47.7 °C.
Perth having a hot one today. isithotrightnow.com/places/perth
