Someone on Twitter asked how to keep from falling into doomerism; I have the answer:
Study history. Study revolutions. Organize your community. Engage in mutual aid. Understand that things will get worse before better. We must have REVOLUTIONARY OPTIMISM and know that it’s better on the other side.

ok so!!! something I found really interesting after talking to Korean protesters was... well, it was actually me realizing something about protest in the US: protest is trapped in an unwinnable spiral about "peaceful" versus "violent" protest, and even people
who know it's dumb can't break free
rather than normalizing people with flags or zodiac signs in their name, we oughta normalize having your smash main/s in people's bio
but seriously yall gunna have to do a whole lot more than shouting “boo” at buildings when the people making things extremely bad have made abundantly clear you’re nothing but background noise. and it’s gunna take all these neutered libs to find some insane courage for things to really improve.
you don’t get a gold star for showing up — you get one by sticking around.
if you’re feeling buoyed and empowered after today’s #handsoff demos, commit to staying plugged in and participating and showing up and caring and advocating because it’s important, not because you saw a flyer for 1 day.
you pay attention because a lot of people are talking about it. you show up because a lot of people plan to also. this is a normal way to get started.
what makes an actual difference is not activist tourism - a brief visit during peak season - but using that to get and stay plugged in.
all protest is performance. street turnout without using that energy to push you into effecting material change, however you can no matter how tiny it is, is just a parade.
being responsive to calls for help is good to do. better to stay alert and keep showing up, especially when the trend fades.
i think my role in the revolution is socialist cinephile clown
To be clear, I'm not wishing state violence on anyone - and I want people to be prepared for a shift. If you're accustomed to having your right to protest respected because you've to this point been part of a protected class, just remember how quickly you can be categorized as dangerous.
Okay, then here's a simple question for you - what are you doing after these protests? Selling pink pussy hats? Fundraising for 50501? If your answer is not direct action like mutual aid, legal help, or dearresting, then the real question is what are YOU doing to help the country?
It is racist, it's fascist, and it's xenophobic for bluesky to be constantly banning the accounts of palestinians struggling to survive. we are our of their few lifelines out, and the management here has decided that one of their most critical operations is to systemically let them die in silence.
I want to be clear, I wish for liberals to be safe too, but why the fuck do they wish for me to be sent to camps? The reason I want them to be okay is because, to be honest, many of them have marginalized people in their lives they may be looking after. I do not believe in collective punishment.
Remember when, in June 2015, a bunch of liberal queers and Obama told a brown latina trans woman to shut up just because she wanted LGBTQIA+ immigrants to be released from ICE detention? The same ICE that is disappearing people today? How dare Jennicet Gutiérrez care about people! I didn't forget!
Not going to dunk on the protestors because protest can be the first step to radicalization
You can be as terrified or nonplussed or unperturbed as you like; the sun will still rise tomorrow & the rent will still be due on the 31st. The world has no romantic narratives for its fate except those we invent, because the world does not die. That is our privilege.
how telling most mainstream news media was either very hush with their reporting about israeli war crimes or outright omitted covering it altogether yet the moment there's reports of anti-hamas protests in palestine, there's instant coverage
I wanted to know how Democrats can do a better job of appealing to working class voters in the Midwest. So I read a book by Ezra Klein and a guy who writes for the Atlantic
more cis and trans people need to be setting tesla cars on fire
lol i literally just got an anti-communist/marxist ad on a non-political video, just a few hours after i got the same lockheed martin / northrop ad two times in a row
if you find yourself reluctant to support the guy at Columbia because you find some of the politics he espoused distasteful or even abhorrent, you should know that this is exactly the reaction that they hoped for in choosing him as a target for unlawful detention based on political speech.
elon musk is probably the current largest threat to the climate, as he dismantles every climate program and defunds all climate science research
supporting his downfall, even if it takes tesla with him, is a great pro-climate action. people can buy other evs that don’t enrich tyrannical nazis
“Liberals are on the left that’s where the term comes from” and then hundreds of years happened where liberals showed their true allegiances and the colloquial usage of the term changed. Hope this helps
Liberals are not part of the political left.

"we, your representatives, can do nothing and we plan to do nothing" is just not very inspiring, whether it's said by chuck schumer or bernie sanders.1
leftists: oppose genocide!

It's really not that hard to react to threats of ethnic cleansing with horror and humanity instead of using it as a chance to dunk on devastated people
