neotropic cormorant! a bit harder to find than their more abundant double-crested cousins around here, esp. because they look very similar. They are slightly smaller, have black lores and more of the facial skin is covered in feathers, making them look less dinosaur-like #birds

Is this a greater scaup? It definitely has a more rounded head and more ‘mallard-like’ bill and was swimming alone away from a large group of lesser scaups. #birds
