how socially awkward I am, you ask? I got my first mutual on xhs and they messaged me, and I spent 20min googling if the message (which tbf was a generic 'since we're moots let's talk!') is automatic every time you become moots w somebody đ¤Śđťââď¸đ¤Śđťââď¸

Of course I decided to finally get a xhs account in the middle of the tiktok refugees fleeing there đ¤Łđ¤Ł if nothing else me and my shaky mandarin can benefit from this ^^
It's the Forest app!
I prioritize speaking in every language because I hate it đ đ Other than that, I try to pay equal attention to all skill, but ngl I've been shafting listening for years excluding music...
Ooh, that's a good catch! It's a pronunciation of L called 'darkening' (it's supposed to be Ĺ phonetically, but some ppl overdo it until it becomes a W/U) and it happens when after L comes A, O, U or ĐŞ. I haven't come across dialects that don't have this, but maybe around the Serbian borders? đ¤ˇđťââď¸

Did a lot of flashcards in Japanese and reread the texts from my Chinese textbooks out loud (not only has my pronunciation suffered during the break I took, now I sound like an obnoxious mix of foreigner and Southern-transplant-Beijing accent...
I've made some progress with my mandarin chinese after passing hsk3 two years ago but it's been largely inconsistent, so perhaps a good goal for this year would be passing hsk4? Perhaps even hsk5 if I can push it (which seems to be smthn I can do now...)
It's the same for me with Croatian and Serbian! The softer pronunciation always trips me up... If you have any questions about Bulgarian I'd be happy to help ^^
