There's a growing number of physics educators who agree. Soon our movement shall become undeniable.
One of the above sentences is true.

Exactly, it is imprecise. And that's why it's so unhelpful for novices who are trying to navigate new language while navigating new ways of thinking. Also, the vast majority of the time I hear students use the word weight, they mean mass.
And then there's an argument from Eugenia Erkina that "weight" implies that it is a characteristic of that one object, but that is very explicitly, very definitely not what forces are!
Oh, I didn't say that I do or would pretend the word doesn't exist. But I will argue that it is not a helpful word for novice learners to try to attach a precise physics meaning to. Physics textbook authors can't even agree on whether weight should mean "gravitational force" or "what a scale reads"
Petition to move "potential energy" to the top of the list, replaced with "configuration energy" or "positional energy"
Today I thought "maybe weight is useful, but only in the context of describing sensation, in the same sense that centrifugal is a useful word for describing sensation."
For a long time I was on team "weight is a convenient shorthand way of saying gravitational force on an object."
Then I joined team "weight is a word we should just avoid using in physics classes for a multitude of reasons."
I think this is one of our greatest preconceptions to work through--conflation of force and energy in common language (e.g., "I gave the ball a lot of force")
I confess that I've never thrown an axe while drunk, so I can't say with certainty that I would have done any better under identical conditions

You should be happy about 2016, no?
I lived in Evanston as a kid, so for most of my adulthood when it was time for Take Me Out to the Ballgame, I'd sing it Harry Caray style (even with root root root for the Cubbies). Until 2017. I restarted a few years ago though
I'm still mad about 2016
