I spent a bit of time at Hinewai, a couple of my friends lived and worked there with Hugh. Incredible place, he's a very singularly focused individual.

Greater Wellington and South Wairarapa mourn the sudden passing of Councillor Adrienne Staples | Greater Wellington

Sad news. I had the pleasure of serving with Adrienne on the FENZ Local Advisory Committee for Wellington - she was fantastic to work with, a genuine caring person so passionate about her community. Aroha to all those who knew and cared for her.

No need for TPM to win 6 electorates. On these numbers, if they win 1 electorate, they'd get 2 seats and the left bloc would have 62 seats compared to the right blocs 58.

"There is no trade-off between fixing the cost of living, addressing the fossil-fuel crisis and climate crisis. They are the same problem, all driven by the same rules that prioritise profit over people and planet," Swarbrick said.

So good to have Manaia Nuku back from her big injury. She's so bloody talented. Black Ferns Sevens looking ominous in Hong Kong.

Rush defence pays off! What an intercept from Amy Du'Plessis, perfectly timed. That's got to be the game locked away for the Black Ferns now.

What a try! Breakdown turnover again, crossfield kick and then a break through the centre. Brilliant finish from Maama Vaipulu!

We've been so good at the breakdown today. Winning turnover after turnover. Kennedy Tukuafu brilliant but plenty of support from the rest of the pack too. If we win this game, credit will go to that and our leg drive in the tackle too.

Finally we get across the line! So many last passes off the mark or dropped so far this game, but the attack is looking super dangerous. Strung some phases together there and a well taken try by the skip. Go the Black Ferns!

Fundraiser quiz for the wonderful Te Ara Korowai in Raumati tonight.

Pleased to say that the Green Lanterns finished third, ahead of the National and Labour Party teams, with a strong showing too from the Four-Leaf Clovers in sixth, another Green team.

Surely a positive sign for the year ahead!

Rat eradication sparks record-breaking seabird breeding in Hawai’i A multi-agency effort to remove invasive rodents has let native species thrive in Hawai’i, including seabirds and entire forest ecosystems

One of Aotearoa New Zealand's greatest gifts to the world has been pioneering rodent eradication technology on islands.

The brodifacoum used for this project was manufactured in Whanganui.

Recipe: Ministry of Food's cheese scones The very cheesy scones are a crowd-pleaser.

Yep recipe is here. I'm going to do my best but definitely still up in the air how many will last. www.stuff.co.nz/life-style/f...

I like to crumble a bit of feta on top but didn't have any in the house this time. Using a good smokey cheese in the mix is also delicious

They're so good! and while they do need 2 cups of grated cheese, they don't need any butter, so at least you save on that.

A picture of a library shelf with a small rolled up note on it. The note says “read this” in child’s handwriting.

A picture of the note unrolled. In the same child’s handwriting it reads “beware of the future!!”

Still thinking about this note I found in the children’s section of the public library when I worked there back in 2018. This kid tried to warn us…

Today is Yom Hashoah, the day of holocaust rememberence in Israel.

It is a day to remember all those murdered by the Nazis, but also a day to remember the many civilians across Europe who risked their own lives to save Jewish friends, neighbours and strangers.

In Judaism, we say of the dead 'zichron l'bracha', may their memory be a blessing.

We call on Israelis to reflect on this today, and to take the memories of their ancestors killed in the Holocaust as motivation to speak up and take action against the genocide being committed by their friends and neighbours today.

The only way to truly honour the memory of those cruelly taken from us is to ensure it does not happen to anyone else.

Never again means never again for anyone.

Wrote this today for Dayenu: New Zealand Jews Against Occupation. You cannot commemorate the victims of a genocide while perpretrating one yourself. The killing must end. The occupation must end.

Never again means never again for anyone.

Awesome mahi Julie, nice work getting this across the line so convincingly.

Yeah probably, that's definitely what I meant. I wrote the post in a one minute break between meetings at work, it wasn't like I spent a long time crafting the message!

I think you've completely misunderstood what I said. Everyone who comes here enriches our collective lives in some way, shape or form, but of course that's not the reason we welcome them.

This is the most beautiful line - “If you can’t solve the smallest task in someone’s life, why would they ever trust you to solve the biggest one?”

Petitions are addressed to the House of Representatives and ask that the House do something about a policy or law, or put right a local or private concern.

We should be a welcoming country to all those who would enrich our lives, our cultures, and our communities.

Imagine being told that you couldn't build a life here in Aotearoa because your loved one is disabled, or ill.

This is the reality for too many people thanks to something called the 'acceptable standard of health' requirements for immigrants to this country.

Āe, truly disgusting.

And the "... fostered and celebrated by most political parties ..." is saddeningly revolting💔.

People who receive 'benefits' are just that ... *people*🙏🏾.

The 'benefits' are recompense to people, for *our* failure to ensure opportunities are available & accessible *to all*❤️.

Isaia Walker-Leawere at his best is a bloody good lock but his discipline has been shit his whole career. Really poor and pointless trip there, well deserved yellow card. #HURvBLU
