All of this to ask…do I move forward with the plan to self-pub? Do I hang on to that sliver of hope and keep querying? Or do I shelve it?

Well, I had plans to self-pub this spring and then through this app, received interest from a (big!) editor, letting me know to have my agent send her the MS. And of course, I still do not have an agent.

I ended up turning down that offer because I found out in the contract that they wanted 2 books before they would publish 1. As a mom w/a full time job, there was no way I was going to do this and said no thank you, I’ll self-pub.

I've had many close calls, but most responses came down to 'the writing is great, but I don't know how to position/market this.’ Last year, I emailed outstanding agents to let them know I was accepting an offer from a small press.
