death trap when paired with right turn on red

Are people really still doing the "cyclists don't follow the rules" bit in 2026 when I just took a 2 min walk around my block and saw 1 driver intentionally drive the wrong way down a one way street and another blast, not roll, blast thru a stop sign. 😵‍💫

There have been no rules for cars since 2020.

I walk a lot and the times I've almost been hit by careless drivers has skyrocketed since Covid. Twice I've almost been hit by cabs turning right without stopping on a red. Once I had to use my "Dad Voice" to stop my son from crossing on a green because a driver just blasted through the red. 😡

I’ve used the intersection by Spanish Landing park. Crossed at the crosswalk and had to finagle my way through parking lots to actually get there, but that was the easiest way I found!

Good afternoon to everyone who drives who doesn't do the slow roll toward you while you're crossing.

All of this is downstream from police departments completely giving up on traffic enforcement. Last I saw, traffic citations in California are down about 90% over that past decade. Drivers no longer see anyone getting punished for anything so they assume they can get away with almost anything.

It’s almost like they want to see piled up car type traffic in the bike lanes to prove their use…. I’m using the bike lanes to bypass that type of traffic. That’s the point. lol.

I really liked A Psalm for the Wildbuilt by Becky Chambers! Its sequel was equally enjoyable.

My husband can carry me and a very heavy LFL book load w/ no issue on our Madsen cargo bike.
Was highly influenced by #bikesky to add the e-bike capabilities last month ❤️

It’s so fun!!!!

Think much of the over-parenting we despise stems from the early on fear of the driver.
If parents weren't terrified of our streets kids would have so much more freedom and independence which might get them comfortable with their children's ability to navigate the world without them.

Also have the Kobo Clara Color. I use Calibre to manage all of my books! Have been super satisfied.

Sadly we know those stop signs will probably be treated like yields or just completely ignored by most San Diego drivers.

What makes it so striking is that these are people with whom you have an obvious, built-in social tie. You see each other regularly. These aren’t total strangers, and it’s still too much to ask to even consider the possibility they’re actual people.

Watching antisocial driver behavior in the school drop-off line makes it really clear that the pandemic destroyed whatever few shreds remained of the social compact, just pathological selfishness on display every day

My daughter and I joke about training a murder of crows to poop on cars that are driving dangerously…. It’s not a joke to me, it’s a dream.

As our kids go #BackToSchool, never forget that we ARE the traffic that we’re afraid of. If more kids walked, biked or rode transit to school, it would erase a massive number of car trips each day, and our kids would be safer, healthier and better at school. HT Ian Lockwood.

Spread the word.

I have been so impressed with the upgrades on this street! There have been improvements to sidewalks & a couple of nice walking paths have been added behind those apt buildings. I’m hoping they continue to increase accessibility towards Old Town transit station! Ped/bike traffic is way UP!!

“Well, I’m not really worried about that part.”

One of the most disappointing things about being an advocate for non-car transportation is that you end up discovering how many left-wing spaces are full of people who hold casual beliefs that non-drivers' lives don't matter.

It wasn't that having my own kids radicalized me. It was spending time with kids that did.

Those blissful little idiots can not comprehend the dangers that adults force on them. It is unfair and needs stop.

Shocker. They want to privatize everything. Schools. NASA. Police. Health care. Social security. The VA. Everything.
