Looked at an Etsy shop I liked and discovered they are closing down, so I went on Instagram for the first time in forever to read their post, and discovered the comic shop I've hosted TCG meetups at for 1.5 years is ALSO closing down. That's enough internet for me tonight. x.x

it's particularly weird when people confront a horror creator about their discomfort, because horror is a genre which is specifically designed to make you uncomfortable. you don't have to ENJOY it, but you don't get to say "you did this wrong" just because discomfort wasn't what you were seeking

I decided I wasn't going to open an Etsy shop to sell my pins until January - mostly bc I didn't want to have a shop that said 'opened in 2024' with no sales, bc then it'd look like I sold nothing the whole year - but it's been so painful to wait for and now it's almost over!!! Last day to wait!!!

The thought in my head with these strikes is that these services operated for decades without falling into financial ruin, and now suddenly everyone is running out of money. Where did it go?? Did the 1% take THAT much that it's just all gone?? Are we going to run out?? Can that happen?? It's unreal

Yes, I'm a little glad that workers going back means I can hopefully get my pin shop going in the new year, but still! An agreement would've been better. The fact that the rail/port strikes were ended by the gov is just incentivising these businesses to put off bargaining. It's setting a precedent.

Their contract is already a year overdue, to be clear, and CP has been acting childish since the beginning of the strike, doing press releases constantly about how the union is kicking puppies and ruining everything for everyone. It's fucking bizarre.

Maybe it's just bc I'm really jaded at capitalism atm, but I am pretty annoyed that the government may end up intervening in the Canada Post strike. CP sat on the union's last offer for five days! They tried to fire striking workers! They didn't bargain in good faith presumably so this would happen.
