Wild guess but Italians in the 60s? Along with their “cheese tart” (pizza)

my social life is much like the roman empire, in that it's diminishing and germanic peoples seem to be running what's left
I find it super hard to conceive of the inner world of ppl like this but I imagine there is some bliss in thinking that you just fell out of the coconut tree
‘Sally Carson wasn’t writing with the involved intensity of authors whose lives had been threatened, or irreparably damaged, by fascism. Like Michael, she is watching from a place of safety.’
Dinah Birch on novels that tackle the rise of fascism.

I feel like there are a bunch of weird small publishers in Germany that would love to publish this
my sister is so excited about getting her cosmetology license i don't have the heart to tell her the USSR doesn't have a space program anymore
For me, it feels like less a problem with AutoCorrect and more a problem with the literal mechanics of typing, like it’s much easier to make typos now, even though our phones are exactly the same size, etc. I now constantly use voice to text if possible because of it
I took a translation class when I was b2 German and we weren’t allowed online dictionaries so this was the method if you didn’t know something. It was very slow but relaxing
Gentle shampoo is good for wool sink hand-washing. Like if you have wool hats or mittens that don’t get washed much
I got one of the spam messages from the account and its annoying because there doesn't seem to be any way to report it to help you
Screenshot of Tumblr post by lurker-at-thresholds: Thinking about a new bit where i start using “workers of the world” as my go-to second person plural pronoun. Like “chat”. Workers of the world what do we think of this. Is it funny. Workers of the world please like and reblog my post
Wake up, workers of the world, a new second-person plural pronoun dropped.
I just finished listening to the audiobook (I get through a lot while sewing) and I think this is the first time that at the end the narrator announced a union affiliation (that she is a member of SAG-AFTRA) which is nice and fitting :)
The cover of the book “the capital order” by Clara e Mattei
despite all the praise by marxists for The Capital Order I was still surprised at how MARXIST Marxist it is, anyway, great book
Whenever I have like 2 beers in the afternoon and then go back to working on a sewing project I feel like I’m getting in touch with my 19th century seamstress ancestors
This is so true! I always feel very safe in Berlin and can count the times I’ve felt uneasy on one hand. All instances where I was going through a park and for some reason there was no one in sight, or walking on a weirdly deserted street
You are right ! -kg per person
Rip Frederick the Great you would have loved free potato week
Attention Berlin!!
🥔 🚨🥔 get ready for free potato week 🥔 🚨 🥔 🚨
The Berliner Morgenpost is coordinating the free distribution of more than 4 million surplus potatoes.
That’s more than 1 potato for every person in Berlin

I think because people come there from insta - a visual rather than text based platform - way more people on there are functionally illiterate and write/ behave so much like bots it’s super hard to see who is a bot at first. It’s like if all normal people automatically had accounts on here or twt
back to the daily grind (completing the unfinished project of modernity)
it's funny when watching US movies or tv shows i used to be like "man, they sure do use food poisoning as a plot device *a lot* in america..."
then i learned their food poisoning statistics and it blew my mind. that's just how they live!
people DIE of food poisoning regularly in the US.
it's MAD.
Abysmal statement from Canada on the illegal US action in Venezuela.
It doesn’t matter how much you dislike Maduro, that doesn’t justify a violation of international law and the UN Charter. You can’t call on “all parties” to respect international law and not call out US lawlessness.
Rubio is claiming that they did not need Congress permission because it was a law enforcement mission. The US is behaving as a global police state, extending its own arbitrary legal decisions to the whole world.
This is not a problem just for Venezuela.
You just get a fine! It’s wild
In Germany, if they catch you cycling drunk, especially if you disobey a traffic law, they can take away your drivers license. It happened to a friend of mine, he had to do super expensive remedial driving classes because of drunk biking
"In the meantime, may I wish you in advance every happiness for the new year. If it's anything like the old one, I, for my part, would sooner consign it to the devil." - Marx to Engels, 27 Dec. 1861
In before everyone else posts this classic new year's quote
We’re going to see Home Alone 2 in cinemas tonight and I’m wearing two pigeon-themed articles of clothing
I’m also very short and short-waited ( big reason I got back into sewing) and usually always have to take out 1-3cm from the height of modern shirt/dress sewing patterns. Not so here. I took out 1cm and realised after I really didn’t need to, it was designed very short to start with
I dress like this! rust is real vintage and the red one I made/sewed from a 40s pattern. Despite how boxy they look, they have much more shaping around the waist/hips than modern blouses. They are also much shorter than modern blouses. In my red one the there are !8!! darts plus side-shaping
