I find that a lot of these statements that claim to be absolute truths are really "truths within certain limits". For example, I can make certain choices about my attitude in a situation. But my attitude is also influenced by my education, my culture, even my state of health.

Agreed, but the operative word is "think". I wonder how many people actually *know* about those lousy conditions? Many may assume that people living in hotels are living in luxurious conditions with three high-quality restaurant meals a day.
Because the people struggling to make ends meet think the others are getting treated better than they are?
