I just turned 56. I was laid off in November 2022. I applied to about 50+ jobs in my field. I got interviews for 10, and went through to the end for 3. The message was subtle but it was there: great experience but too old. So I started doing my own thing. I do ok, but it won’t make me rich. (Con’d)

I’ve been writing and calling like it’s my job. If insurance premiums go up it will take a considerable amount of my income. As it is, I still pay out of pocket for some healthcare because it’s not covered even with high premiums.

Hey @mikecrapo.bsky.social and Senator Risch: I live in Idaho. With ACA subsidies I pay $775/month with a $3,000 deductible for healthcare. Without the ACA subsidies I will pay double that. As a self-employed woman that is unsustainable. Do you really want to throw Idahoans off healthcare???

I live Sandpoint. Even though it’s about the same distance between there and CDA for us, we don’t get up there enough.

I live just outside of a small town of about 700 people in North Idaho, and I just had incredible Chinese food at a restaurant attached to a gas station in that town.

So proud of Coeur d’Alene because there were a few hundred protesters out there tonight for May Day. In fact, they have constantly been out for every protest these last few months. In this area that’s a really big deal.

Especially because it’s clear he’s not calling the shots. He has no idea what’s going on, defers to those around him, signs orders without knowing what they are.
