Our Brain&AI team is releasing NeuralSet! 🚀🚀🚀
A fast, simple, and scalable package for Neuro-AI:
📦 `pip install neuralset`
💻 Code: lnkd.in/eamwxBUY
📄 Paper: lnkd.in/epbreyDy
As a PhD student working extensively with neuro recordings and AI models, I find this library to be a game-changer.

Exciting new research published in @currentbiology.bsky.social by our guest scientist and former group leader @jmrko.bsky.social. The study highlights insights from connectomics research in songbirds. „Tunneling neurons“ open new perspectives on how adult neural circuits may regenerate.
Our new article is out in @jexpbiol.bsky.social! 🐦 We show how song cultures emerged in three domesticated zebra finch colonies founded with males trained to sing the same song 🎶

Our negative results on classical conditioning in planarian flatworms. This was surprising, given the long history of work (including sensational findings of memory transfer and retention through decapitation).
Surely that is some kind of libertarian/techbro/Silicon Valley MadLibs?
My #atscience talk about Lea is now online! If you've only ever heard me talk about NLP, here's a chance to hear me rant about #atproto (the protocol you're reading this on!), social media for researchers, and the free internet.
And if you're interested in helping us build Lea, please reach out!
Please join in and help us! Lea is open source and could be so muc better with your support
Screenshot of sophiafornc from Threads: This is eleven year-old Genesis and six year-old Denis, two Durham elementary school students whose families came here to seek asylum. On Monday, they were detained by ICE and immediately sent back to Honduras without due process. Don't you dare tell me that this is making our country safer.
I am so angry. Two Durham, NC kids - 11-year-old Genesis and 6-year-old Denis of Burton Elementary Magnet School - were taken by ICE at their regular asylum case appointment, and immediately deported without due process.
Follow SiembraNC on IG or FB or @siembranc.bsky.social for next action steps.
Last week to apply for the FENS workshop in Barcelona to learn about @pynapple.bsky.social and Nemos.

You simply MUST watch the video in this paper. Literally sounds like he's starting a slow clap
If you need a method to infer causality from neural data, even when the signal is short, check our recent paper:

I’m excited to share that I’ll be starting my computational neurosci & machine learning lab at UCLA this July! ☀️
We’ll be working on computational methods for high-throughput neural data analysis, optical interrogation of neural circuits, & mechanistic models of artificial+bio neural systems. ⤵️
I was saying in lab meeting today that the real impact in theoretical neuroscience is in caring about the details that make algorithms and models work in practice.
I love Marcus’s work for this reason. I’m really excited for what his lab will produce, and an ambitious trainee could not do better.
But shall this crazed old man be tamely suffered to drag a whole ship’s company down to doom with him?
Want a dataset to test ideas on neural basis of decision making or how areas interact as we make choices? Check out our data published today @rudebecklab.bsky.social. >16,000 single neurons from 22 anatomically confirmed areas in macaques performing a decision task. www.nature.com/articles/s41...
I searched "data center coloring book" because I was trying to decide if I should make one and found this, from a power management company, and I don't think I can top this www.eaton.com/explore/_pfc...
Science peeps! Excited to share first of two preprints just uploaded. This one concerns a person who hears sounds when she moves her eyes! We could actually record these sounds and verify they were connected to eye movements 1/

Runtimes by batch size, hidden layer size, and parallel/serial computation
Our new preprint on parallelizing training of temporally precise spiking neural networks is out!
We show up to 44x speedups over a conventional sequential baseline. 1/N
Wait… localized norepinephrine transients in the awake visual cortex?!
Who would have guessed this neuromodulatory signal is that spatially precise, right where visual processing is happening. Brain state control just got a lot more local. @ruedigersarah.bsky.social www.nature.com/articles/s41...
If you're interested in emerging ideas in neural interfaces, I humbly suggest my lab's latest: www.nature.com/articles/s42...
Neural interfaces create dynamic interactions between the brain & devices. This means mean we need new engineering approaches beyond typical ML to "decode" a static brain
Applications are now open for our Junior Theoretical Neuroscientists Workshop which will take place July 21 - 24, 2026 at the Center for Computational Neuroscience @flatironinstitute.org
Learn more and apply by April 15 at www.simonsfoundation.org/event/jrwork...
It turns out that home cage running wheels impact the social behaviors of female mice, but not for the reasons we thought! Thanks to our reviewer for a great control experiment suggestion. Please RT!

Excited that my paper on metacontrol in humans and neural networks with @summerfieldlab.bsky.social and @lhuntneuro.bsky.social is out in PNAS! We examine the way that predictive representations of control enable behavioral adaptation across settings, and pathologies: www.pnas.org/doi/10.1073/...
🧵 New preprint led by @bingbrunton.bsky.social, @elliottabe.bsky.social, @lawrencehu.bsky.social
We gave a worm brain control of a fly body and it walked
What did we learn? Nothing, other than deep reinforcement learning is effective

We apologize for the delay but our next profile is here! Dr. Ann Kennedy (@antihebbiann.bsky.social) combines theory & biological data to study how internal states shape social behavior by reconfiguring neural circuit dynamics.

(7) Fly experts might correct me here but it feels like the mushroom body algorithm for associative learning and valence learning is getting there.
(8)somatogastric cpg in crabs (well done Eve)!
(9) integration of fear signals to trigger an escape reflex in rodents. (Well done Tiago:)
(5) Simple cerebellar-like circuits for prediction (eg electric-fish self-field cancellation).
(6) VTA- accumbens loop for TD-like learning ( obviously there is still debate here but the most recent demonstration by Uchida-lab at Cosyne really felt like a very direct demonstration).
(1) ring attractor in central complex of flies
(2) grid cell circuit for path integration in rodents (particularly with the amazing recent unpublished results from Mosers at SfN)
(3)song learning circuit in zebrafinch (we can now even train individual neurons by manipulating feedback).
