I don't know how anyone else feels about this, but to me, sharing a screenshot of chatbot output to make a point of some kind is an excellent way to undermine any credibility that might otherwise be granted to you in the context of whatever you're trying to say.

You gave terrorists the exploding boob idea. Now this!

It’s bad when they ignore them, it’s bad when they follow them. If only they knew there are more books.

Gavin Newsom says he regrets using term ‘apartheid’ to describe Israel California governor backtracks and says he meant to apply term to Israel’s future if it continues on present trajectory

If the UN committee calls it a genocide, it is ridiculous and cowardly to walk back "apartheid."

This is the best review of a book I’ve ever read. I have many questions.

Opinion | Why I’m Suing Grammarly

This is a good article and I'm proud of @juliaangwin.com (whom I have known since college) for suing.

How far are we, in days, from China taking Taiwan?

America is busy self-immolating at the moment, Russia will finally have all the chips they want, and Europe will do nothing.

No oil, no chips, no liberal democracies.

Most modern cars are constantly uploading your location and other data. The idea that car companies can protect this data is just ridiculous if you consider how often IT companies, even security companies, are being hacked.

For Your Consideration This Awards Season ... Best Novella: Automatic Noodle ... Best Anthology: We Will Rise Again, Edited by Karen Lord, Annalee Newitz, and Malka Older. The image shows the book covers of both works, and the background is a bunch of rainbow-colored stars, clouds, and planets.

It's awards season! I couldn't be more proud of the two books I published last year. "Automatic Noodle" is my love letter to San Francisco's future. The anthology "We Will Rise Again" is a hopeful collaboration between me, @older.bsky.social, @drkarenlord.bsky.social & many brilliant authors.

One Goff is more than enough.

I couldn’t, really. If, for example, I had claimed that the brain is solely responsible for consciousness then I think it would be safe to conclude that I have a high opinion of brains.

1. seems rather vague to me so I can’t say. As for 3., … I don’t have a homunculus. I did enjoy “Small Prophets.”

re @anthropic.com:

I've identified industrial-scale copyright violations on my content by Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, X, and more.

These companies created thousands of crawlers incorporating the text of all my blog posts, open source code, and books into their paid AI models to profit exorbitantly.

It’s hard to argue with people who claim that their brain is not responsible for their consciousness. If they have such a low opinion of their brains, it’s only polite to agree.

I have a question for the #Dennett readers out there:

I believe he mentioned VR somewhere, and I don’t remember where.

I think he was arguing against the idea that VR could ever be indistinguishable from reality.

Does this ring a bell?
