I’ll be a part of Cleveland Public Library’s At the Table series in July for Disability Pride month. I get the opportunity to return to Hough, the neighborhood I grew up in to share my story. Please register to attend. I'm looking forward to seeing you there.

I wish I had the words to describe what I’m feeling at the moment after learning of Alice Wong’s passing but I don’t. I feel numb and angry. Angry because Alice was such a trailblazer who still had so much to fight for. Grief is such an odd thing, isn’t it? The only thing I can think of is to continue to fight for the disabled community because that’s what she would want. We’re losing our elders in the disabled community and it’s scary because they were the ones who gave us the strength to fight for ourselves. What do we do now without their guidance? I will say allies should take this as an example that we won’t be around forever and we will always need you fighting alongside us. Alice, saying goodbye doesn’t sound right, so see you later.

It’s crusty bread and stew/soup season, where I like to pretend I’m a weary traveler who stumbles upon a tavern on the outskirts of a sleepy village.

My seasonal affective disorder is a mess right now, but here is a reminder to myself and my fellow disabled baddies that you can be hot in a wheelchair and with an ostomy. We got this!
