I did this drawing of my son this morning on his little doodle pad. He was concentrating on playing with a wooden block and loving it.

Yes! I think that’s the key. We’ve somehow made teenage years more awkward and shot through with new venues for anxiety.

You’re tops in my book, pal

I’d love that. It would be like in post apocalypse movies where broken down tanks are covered in moss, ivy and frolicking varmints. Very “nature is healing” and I’m here for it.

My sincere hope is that the pendulum swings back to a place where a more human-centric tech and approaches to daily living are given the institutional support they deserve.

I think we can have that Star Trek future if we are cognizant of what is helping us flourish and what is an impediment.

Could be. I’ve had a lot of experiences talking to young people & some escape the magnetism of screens but many others certainly face more concentration challenges than were present when I was a kid.

I don’t envy the experience of constantly having my brain tugged on by predatory tech my whole life

I hope all the people who have benefited from @stevelieberart.bsky.social’s teaching understand how lucky they are. He could be off on his motorcycle heading wherever the wind takes him instead of helping us all.

I have sympathy for them because, on some level, it’s like us olds have a perception sense that these lil tech babies were denied because of the era they were born into.

I feel like a bee trying to describe the ultraviolet when I talk to youths.

Lindsey and I took our baby on a walk and he gets excited when he sees young people. We mentioned that to some teens we passed and they looked through us like a store window in an abandoned mall.

When I was younger we’d talk about what it might be like to have super powers.

Now I know that you want to experience what it’s like to be invisible all you have to do is turn 40 and it happens regularly.

I just finished God Of War: Valhalla and it was super fun. A perfect gameplay loop and amazingly beautiful acting in the service of a cathartic conclusion. Amazing.

I just remembered that Oatmeal Raisin Crisp existed and it’s like I got a piece of my heart back.

Still true. Is it a brag to tell you that at some points in my career I’ve earned big-money-thousands in an easy to handle size via 220 drawings?!

I’m very thankful that the instructions to do so were easy to follow and I’ve never once doubted if was any good! Nope. Not even once!

I heard and I loved it. So nice and clear. I felt like the shape of the room is audible in the reverb.

Nice! I love being able to hear room sounds. It does always drive me nuts when people bring up the myth about him selling his soul. At some point I will make a comics essay about how I think it dehumanizes him and degrades his true legacy as a relatable artist with much to teach us.

Great piece. I think about this stuff a lot. Part of the charm of having actual CDs is my investment in the ritual of selecting, listening and then carefully returning the disk to its “home.” It’s 3D in a world pushing towards the 2D of only screens. Ownership matters too; streaming is just renting.

Have any of you tried a Gold Tone Weissenborn in person? I’ve played a real W that was 100 years old (ish) but it was far out of my price range. Yes, I know there are custom builders but I’m curious about contemporary equivalents that don’t cost as much as a car.

My recession indicator in that the baristas in my area are suspiciously starting to have old timey boxer mustaches and dressing like 1920s barkeeps and I haven’t seen that out and about since the last one
