No one should have to go into debt in order to access care in the first place…
The crushing medical debt we experience in this country is a policy choice. We can also make choices to prevent it.
That said, I am very happy for these 11,500 people!

Hello, @prhdocs.bsky.social!!!
So happy to see you here!!!
Thank you to all the clinicians & advocates who made this stellar ACOG statement about self-managed abortion possible:
“Health care professionals should recognize that the greatest risk of harm related to SMA is the harm resulting from potential criminalization.”

I think in the near future, it will be especially important to have effective science communicators. As someone who has been doing this for a while, I thought it might be useful to explain my major principles for science communication that I use in my own work 🧵:
Did other people not grow up with two separate categories, “hot dogs” and “hot dog sandwiches”…?
In my mind, that’s the strongest evidence for the “not a sandwich” camp.
But also, language is whatever, so while I find having a strong opinion amusing, you do you… 😇

Since yesterday morning, I have attended a half-dozen births, staffed multiple ER consults for gynecologic symptoms, provided medication and procedural abortion care, taught some incredible resident doctors, read my book club book, snuggled my dogs, and watched a movie.
#Abortion is normal.
I have faced fascism before, in this very country. I was one of 120,000 Japanese Americans summarily rounded up and expelled from our homes at gunpoint, all for the crime of looking like the people who bombed Pearl Harbor.
I spent my childhood behind barbed wire. My parents lost everything. 1/

The American Academy of Pediatrics is collecting stories from physicians about patients we have cared for with vaccine preventable diseases to help in their advocacy against RFK’s confirmation.

Good morning, Bluesky.
Abortion is healthcare.
I love the communities I’m part of, and the communities I care for.
Let’s keep doing the work.
