In my childhood tho’, I not only called aunts ‘Auntie’, but also all my mum’s female friends. [More distant older women, ‘Mrs X’. First names were only a thing among peers in my 1970s/80s community.].

And if I had a fiver for everyone I’ve heard (after a confirmed diagnosis) say baffled “there’s no cancer in my family”!
/Because/ the genetic linked disease gets more media coverage, the flip side is people then think with no family history they get a pass #TheArchers

My concern about drama across all media having SL where a young character has lump checked, and it’s always cancer, and always leading to aggressive treatment is that it nudges people to a fear of getting checked at all. #TheArchers

What is “realistic”? Tho’ a lifetime incidence in UK (not #TheArchers ) of ~1/6, most breast cancer is in older women.
Of those referred to a breast clinic for investigation, only around 8% will have a cancer.
BC relatively common, genetic links get all the press but rare.
