ChatGPT, cooking and Christopher Walken: how parents got their kids to love reading in 2025 Fewer children are reading for fun - but parents are trying everything from AI to dramatic voices to keep them engaged

This is so sad: www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle... reading to your kids is one of the best things. I can't imagine outsourcing that joy to ChatGPT

Well it can't be a poodle because too floofy. Can't be a Labrador because bras are girly. Can't be any type of spaniel, because spas are girly. Can't be a terrier, because that sounds like terry (her), which implies terry has a female gender identity. I'm out of ideas tbh.

I do wish the literature on "depopulation" was more au fait with the literature on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights though, rather than seeing it as an afterthought. Read this piece afterwards, as a critically important counterpoint: www.bmj.com/content/391/... (2/2)

The image presents a line graph depicting global maternal mortality rates from 1985 to 2023. The y-axis represents the number of maternal deaths per 100,000 live births, ranging from 0 to 500, while the x-axis spans the years from 1985 to 2023.

The graph shows a downward trend in maternal mortality rates, starting at approximately 460 in 1985 and declining steadily over the years. A notable increase is observed during the first year of the COVID-19 pandemic, but by 2023, the rate has decreased to about 197. This marks a 57% reduction compared to the rates in 1985.

Annotations highlight key points, such as the spike during the pandemic and the significant decrease achieved by 2023.

The data sources for this graph include the WHO, UNICEF, UNFPA, World Bank, and UN DESA (2025). There is a note stating that the estimates aim to adjust for underreporting and misclassification. The image is credited with a Creative Commons attribution.

Yes and yes!

I don't use the handwriting to text feature as that doesn't work. But I can (mostly) interpret my own handwriting. It replaces paper notebooks for me. I have a separate file for each of my regular meetings (1 on 1s and team meetings), so it's much easier to find notes and next steps.

RFK Jr. says US won’t donate to global vaccine effort Kennedy ripped into Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, in a video address at its pledging summit.

This is a travesty & a nightmare. The US was a founder of @gavi.org. It lowers global vaccine costs, has vaccinated 1B children, & averted 19M deaths. This pull out will cost 100s of thousands of children's lives a year - and RFK Jr will be personally responsible.
