Recreational cannabis use is legal in 🇨🇦; so how did Canadian pilots celebrate 4/20?

They almost certainly didn’t burn one down.

Transport Canada says a pilot can’t use within 28 DAYS of flying an aircraft and that operators can set their own guidelines.

My employer’s guideline: never.

Trump purged a bunch of the military leadership, but it’s a massive organization and surely there are sensible, serious people with considerable authority still in place.

What are the chances that they’ve quietly, informally met and at least asked the question, “are we gonna need to do a coup?”

I’m perfectly content to stay on good terms with the millions of decent, sane Americans living down there.

But as a country they’ve proven that they’re always just 4 years away from burning it all down and going back on their promises.

Individual Americans can be reliable. Their country is not.

I’m not sure if that’s the alternative.

It’s like a relationship that’s gone really sour. You can still hope the other person gets their life back together, but at a certain point you’ve just gotta swipe right on new economic and military alliances.

It’s good political messaging.

It’s no wonder Poilievre is so flummoxed by him. Carney is every bit the economic centrist. An old Tory would have very little to object to. He’s also very good at coming across as sensible, practical and thoughtful - not Pierre’s strong suits.

I dunno. I was willing to give the US a second chance when they pivoted back to sanity with Biden.

But then they went right back to crazy town.

I know it’s not ALL Americans but the number who voted for him is, like, 2 Canadas worth of people.

The Americans are utterly unreliable, collectively.

I’m not sure if it’s so people can watch each other shower or if it’s so you can keep watching the TV while you’re washing your hair… the utility of it is dubious.

I’ve stayed in many-a-hotel. The doorless is fine. The weirdest setup is the one where you can open up a divider/blinds that makes the shower visible from the bed.

We’re all paying more for fuel and travel because Trump wanted Obama’s name off the Iran nuclear deal. I think it’s that simple.

April 19th and we’re still spraying in YYZ.

I’ve gone through a LOT of glycol this season.

I’ve been off for a couple weeks.

Back to work tomorrow.

Guess I’m getting caught up on bulletins and such tonight

Around 80 million Americans thought it’d be fun to elect an insane man as president and their constitution has utterly failed to protect them from the consequences.

Enjoy it while you can!

April/May/June can be glorious.

Come July the cabin is a sweatbox and your climb rate will have you questioning if you forgot to remove the tie-downs.

On flights where I’m conducting training I get a higher rate of pay. When the training schedule gets busy that can add up.

3 days ago 1 0 0 0

This is the 3rd fleet I’ve been on where I’ve been in the training department.

It’s a good way to stave off complacency. It keeps me in the books. It’s a bit of extra work but well worth the effort.

It probably differs by airline.

Where I am it’s not a seniority based position. We have to apply for the job or we’re recruited into it. People involved in training/checking get a sense of which pilots have the right temperament for it, so there’s internal references plus any previous experience.

Looks like I’m doing some more instructing from the right seat later in the month.

If it pans out I’ll be working with a pilot I haven’t flown with since 2017. I did some of the training for his initial captain upgrade on the E190. Now I’ll be on his first flight as a widebody captain.

So OBVIOUSLY the biggest tragedy of the American’s ill-conceived Iran war is the killing and maiming and suffering of untold thousands of people.

But that doesn’t lessen the stress and uncertainty faced by workers worldwide whose livelihoods are being threatened by the resulting energy crisis.

💯

I’d have absolutely no problem if the government wanted to boost the veggie-burger and test-tube-steak industries.

You’re also absolutely correct that the agricultural lobby has deep pockets and lots of votes.

Our team received a report of intermittent app outages at about 11:40pm PDT on April 15, 2026. They worked through the night to mitigate a sophisticated Distributed Denial-of-Service (DDoS) attack, which intensified throughout the day.

It’s almost like purging the senior military leadership and installing an incompetent drunk as the “Secretary of War” has degraded the US military and left the Americans more vulnerable.

Brussels Airlines is scaling back operations and not recalling seasonal cabin crew. Lufthansa is scaling back their fleet with aircraft retirements. Soaring fuel prices are to blame.

The Americans elect a dipshit genocidal rapist and the rest of the world pays for their folly, in big ways and small
