Impressive! I wonder if the "A" protons can be sorted out with 2D experiments; I bet they can.

I live in Phoenix and around here, of course everything‘s cultivated, but the O engelmanii get huge/extensive like that, though the spines are not that dramatic, and also there’s O macrocentra, but around here at least that tends to be more grayish than green but it does have a long central spine.
Love your posts. What vegetative characters set that particular Opuntia apart from the other massively and viciously defended opuntia or were there flowers?
Nice spectrum! What does quinine look like at 125 MHz? I always used quinine as a check at higher fields because it has several peaks that "melt" if the tuning is not great.
Thanks Dylan!
Being obsessed with NMR multiplets, and inspired by a Q Magnetics post, I improved the multiplet() function in my R package SpecHelpers. #NMRchat #chemistry #Rstats chemospec.org/posts/2025-1...
That black cap looks a wee bit plump…
Thanks for providing this summary, very helpful!
“Podium of Idiots” 🤪
A hazard for chemists too!
I can’t help with your problem, but “CRAN non-reproducible BDR-secret-mystery-check issue” is bound to be a classic!
Finally had time to update FOSS4Spectroscopy. Check it out if you are looking for Free and Open Source software for #spectroscopy and please contribute if I have missed something. #NMRchat #Raman #EPR #XRF

Alright, time for a little confession. I have been a chemist for nearly 40 years, and used NMR spectroscopy extensively that entire time. Somehow I have never come across the method I am about to discuss...

I know what the words mean, but I'm a little bothered by the behavioral implications of the $High Claim Item$ sticker... does it mean don't throw this package around like the others?
Thanks to @dylanbeaudette.bsky.social for pointing me (over on xhitter) to the thinking of @edzitron.com about how tech is harming us. Ed's essay is provocative and insightful, lots to reflect on. Be prepared to be discouraged though. www.wheresyoured.at/never-forgiv...
Old JEOL NMR probe turned into a lamp
I have this JEOL probe lamp!
You’ve got some serious skills. Respect!
👍🏻
Convergent evolution?
Possibly young Lindera benzoin. Crush a leaf and a “spicy” odor would confirm.
Thanks... I'll keep that in mind as I figure out a reference clock to keep all pieces in sync. A good idea if it doesn't use too much more memory.
After some wrestling, my EF-NMR now has a pretty functional receiver & data storage solution. Now to figure out a reference clock... #nmrchat #arduino #spectroscopy chemospec.org/posts/2024-0...
Some progress on software for Earth Field NMR! C != R, so had to learn Arduino-flavored C, which meant learning C, and Arduino, an interesting journey. #NMRchat #Rstats #Spectroscopy chemospec.org/posts/2024-0...
I've lost my damn mind: I'm going to try to build an Earth Field NMR... #NMRchat
Looks perfectly functional!
