’I Let Thee Come In’

Illustration for my upcoming book The Towing.

Based on the artwork ”The Kiss” by Gustav Klimt, specifically the version used in Elfen Lied, one of my favourite shows of all time.

I wanted to create something symbolic for these two. Here’s a pixel-ish version.

Father Chris' blush is partially because he's flustered, but it’s also a rash, due to his condition.

Since I was diagnosed, I've been writing more about physical/chronic illnesses and such... it's helped a lot.

I had a lot of fun with it, if you told me I'd draw two grown men spinning in a circle together, I'm not so sure I'd believe you until now... Well, I guess Gunamay doesn't have a gender. They don’t care, though!

The artwork is black and white. A man flashed by a light, holding up two severed heads as if they’re trophies. His face is partially obscured aside from his wide inhuman smile, and two subtle white dots as his eyes. He wears a hoodie and jeans.

I understand all the words and what they’re doing, yet I cannot help but be so confused… YET I cannot put the book down.

I don’t use my horror abilities as much as I should/want to, so many may think I only consume horror media and don’t dabble in it myself. Hoo boy!

Not my idea though, it’s a scene from Chainsaw Man I wanted to recreate in my own way. I admire Fujimoto’s art a lot.

About the illustration:

The first meeting of Seiko and Gunamay, the lake of spirits, the world’s River Styx. Gunamay seemed almost like a saviour, maybe moreso a final mother and father.
