Much of the OSINT action still happens on Twitter, unfortunately. 😔
You're right, I shouldn't be a wallflower. I'm not organised so the threads I make are on the fly, if I don't compose each Tweet and Skeet(?) at the same time I have to do it all over again, which takes the fun out of it. I will endeavour to do better and cross post.
“Are there any Canadian soldiers on exchange with U.S. military units involved in Operation Total Extermination” is a real question I’ll have to ask in 2026
CAF and RCAF often train with the 82nd down at Fort Bragg (now Fort Liberty) and personnel exchanges happen as well.
Background here: substack.com/@thestateoft...
How many CAF personnel are on this base as part of CENTCOM?
Watkins points out there is a division of the U.S. air force in which Canadians on a military exchange jointly operate E-3G Sentry AWACS radar aircraft with American personnel. The aircraft are sometimes dispatched on expeditionary operations overseas. It's not clear if the aircraft are involved in the Iran war. Watkins said there's a good chance they are, since six have been deployed to an airbase in Saudi Arabia. "To me, it's odds are that they're involved because there's nothing that says that they're not," Watkins said, adding that the government seems to be avoiding directly addressing the question about the radar planes. McGuinty has said repeatedly Canada will not get involved "offensively" in the conflict. Watkins said the minister may be choosing his words carefully. "It's not an offensive aircraft and they're leaving that window open in their language for Canadians to defend in the future," he said. "But they haven't closed the door saying that we're not already defending our allies on that plane on the American operation." The Canadian Press has reached out to National Defence and the U.S. air force for more information, but has not yet received a response.

I think it was probably a bomber on the way to/from Iran, many of the transports are travelling visibly with their transponders on, but the bombers are using Mode-3, visible to ATC but not commonly visible to the public.
...oh hang on, it would be dark
Did you see what it looked like?
I'm Canadian, I don't even know what I'm looking at. Tacos? The best Southwestern food I've ever had was in Albuquerque. Absolutely amazing.
If you, a loved one or a friend were one of the CAF members serving and working within CENTCOM up to the and during the U.S. and Israel launching on Iran, or serving and working on on Ali Al-Salem Air Base - I want to hear your story. Your identity will be protected.
I'll be glad when they're all eating adult food
Very cool.

Long history of Canadians at Fort Bragg - now Fort Liberty - and that includes the 82nd Airborne.
Wonder if there are 🇨🇦 in the unit right now…
Independent analyst Steffan Watkins, who has been critical of the war, also has questioned the claim that Canadians were not involved in the strikes. He has said on social media it’s “unrealistic” to think Canada was not aware of the attack plans before they were executed.
