Consent Conundrums: Substances, Sexting, and STIs
"Just say no" has long been a repackaged cornerstone of prevention education broadly but often fails to produce the desired outcomes. While personal responsibility is part of consent, it's not always a powerful influence on behavior, especially when the behavior is meeting other needs. In navigating consent grey areas, a reality-based, harm reduction-informed approach may better address the complexities of youth decision-making and garner better results.

White text on a dark teal background reads:
By supporting this intentional community engagement process, we were able to clearly identify actionable next steps that can be taken to make early childhood education more inclusive and strengthen the early care and education workforce. Our partnership with First 5 Contra Costa further reinforced the need to invest in the early childhood workforce by both strengthening and empowering child care providers to nurture the future of all children.

White text on a dark teal background reads:
Our partnership with First 5 Contra Costa and community made it clear how much the child care workforce cares deeply about nurturing the next generation. . . It quickly became clear that solutions that are most likely to be successful will require workforce strengthening designed in partnership with providers and parents/caregivers, that are family-centered and rooted in equitable approaches. I’m excited to see what changes are on the horizon for the next phase of this work!
