It's becoming common and casual to talk about these acts of inhuman cruelty. We're becoming acclimated to it.
I've always wanted more awareness of the preponderance of CSA in our society. But not like this.
And it's not just the news about the new emails/files, although that is horrific enough. It's the way so many people, even the most liberal, are tossing around jokes and references and language about it so casually, lightheartedly.
I realized in meditation yesterday that my mind/body had forgotten that healthy sex exists, because my senses are so inundated by the horrific news every day.
I've been away from bsky for a while. But I needed to come somewhere to say publicly that the world is nightmarish right now as a survivor of CSA which I know so many of us are.
How awful.
My partner and I talk about this all the time. I'm worried that that space and time has been or will be forgotten. It was so beautiful!
I'm doing another sleep study tonight. We are not supposed to have caffeine after 12:30 so I just chugged a tremendous amount of latte at 12:29. What could possibly go wrong.

I just needed someplace to share. Since I passed my defense, every time I open up my dissertation document I have a minor panic attack.
But I need to do these revisions.
It feels bananas to be writing a dissertation right now in light of world events. But.
Realized yesterday my findings chapter was trying to do TOO MUCH and needed to narrow it down. I found a way to do that & now I'm reinvigorated.
Was up late thinking about it though, so I'm dragging ass today.

It is so surreal right now to be teaching my Gender Studies right now, because students leave class and are immediately bombarded with headlines about politicians who say the EXACT OPPOSITE of their textbook.
I nearly had a panic attack in class today just thinking about it.
Week one disability rights watch. What happened?
Removal of the accessibility page and all content in ASL from the White House website. The administration sets the tone for what it does and does not value on its official website.
Executive Order "ending radical and wasteful government DEI programs and spending". this seeks to terminate all DEI related programs and work within the federal government in the text DEI is sometimes written to include accessibility as DEIA
Executive Order "Ending illegal discrimination and Restoring Merit based Order". Expands the reach of Anti-DEIA tasks including investigating private sector businesses that have any DEI or accessibility initiatives
Trying to collect info in one place for folks. Things are moving quickly. The multiply marginalized will be disparately impacted, especially BlPOC, immigrant, and/or queer disabled folks. Here's the round up from week 1.
It is so surreal to be writing diversity statements for my job applications while our administration is trying to end diversity initiatives. It is so painful to lesson plan about systemic inequality for students whose lives may soon be at risk just by being themselves.

Yeah and it’s stuff like this that makes me get irritated over “y’all really that mad over an app???” Okay it doesn’t matter to you but people get upset over losing their communities.

I like to meet for dessert/coffee/tea. Find a teahouse or Cafe open late. I used to go to a Patisserie and it was perfect because even if the date sucked, at least I went home with macarons! In summertime: ice cream.
I made a list of clear, obtainable, healthy goals for the year and then, nearly immediately, shit my pants.

I think one of the reasons I'm asking is because I don't feel like any of my colleagues are reporting the same thing. We are talking about poor attendance, etc. Buy I don't hear us talking about them needing connection.
Allison, I'm so glad to hear you say this. I did student interviews with disabled students for my diss and I overwhelmingly heard that "desperation for meaningful interaction". Off the top of your head, have you or have you seen anyone write about this? I'd love to know I'd there's some scholarship.

This was my first Christmas without my two oldest cats, Percy and Theodore, pictured in my profile Pic. They were with me for 14 and 16 years. I'm very isolated and don't communicate with a lot of people. (I have a lovely partner tho.) My cats were a huge part of my life. I miss them.
