One of the difficult things I deal with now is the passive slide towards fascism. My grandfather was in the 20th Armored. The Liberators. First unit into Dachau.
Back when I was on Twitter I met a person who had family in Dachau who survived. They kept a patch from the 20th in the family.
bluesky ran into an error trying to pull in the headline for this article but the result is frankly evergreen
Doing things the "right" way, burning out and then realizing there is another option, coming back and winning it all with no fucks given? Yes please tell me that story forever.

My photo, taken on January 1st 2012, of Shepherd's Temple Baptist Church/Anshe Kanesses Israel Synagogue located at 3411 W. Douglas Blvd in Chicago’s Lawndale neighborhood before its demolition. Designed by architects Aroner & Somers in 1913, the synagogue was built by Russian-Jewish immigrants who moved from Maxwell Street to Lawndale. It cost $100,000 and seated 3,500 people. It later was sold to an African-American congregation. On July 24, 1965, King came to the former synagogue, which was then the Friendship Baptist Church. It was his eighth and last stop of the day on a speaking tour to drum up support for a march on City Hall to protest school segregation. Today the site is still a vacant lot.
It was exactly 14 yrs ago today that I went inside the former Anshe Kanesses Israel Synagogue (1913) with @ericallixrogers.com & others, right before its demolition. The structure later became the Friendship Baptist Church where MLK made a speech in 1965. Today the site remains a vacant lot.
