To ignore the reality of the birth lottery is counterintuitive to the society as a whole; for what is society’s purpose but to oppose barbarism; and what is most destructive to society is to feign equality where there is none among citizens.
“All men are created equal” is a nice sentiment to build a society on, but it is the mark of a great and enlightened society to acknowledge and work to overcome the fact that all are not born equal.
