I'm ngl I definitely had a moment of "yeah that's true but also kinda boring" which I think is fair

the fact that *you* of all people got this feels so fundamentally wrong in my bones

okay did a quick numbers run and there is an overall decline in 3H fic numbers this year versus last year, but it's not actually that big. last year averaged 540 fics updated per month and this year is averaging 453 (so far). this is less of a decline than from 2022 to 2023.
