Nice umbrella shade, pity about the actual cycle parking...

And I may be wrong but I've always pronounced the Hackney LTN showcase as "de-boo-voir". Comments on correct pronunciation welcome!
Worth watching: the summarised version of the battle to keep the healthy, safer, cleaner LTNs, fought by @saveoursaferstreets.org in Tower Hamlets.

Even worse when a crash is presented as a "x minute traffic delay" to your driving commute, rather than a serious injury or loss of life for the victim/s.
How apt that this appeared in my timeline.

Four people on bikes and one bike with a sound system trailer and large flag reading Cambridge Bike Party.
Looking back at the cycling pack behind, on the ride in the sun.
Some of the FLITs - older version in the foreground and newer version in the background.
A folded FLIT bike with Alex the MD at FLIT talking shop.
I went for my first ride with the Cambridge Bike Party today & we visited the only bike manufacturer in Cambridge; FLIT, who are producing foldable e-bikes. I had a spin on one - it was great fun getting the motorised boost.

Latest Senedd Research report has shown that road casualties in Wales dropped significantly after implementing the default 20mph limit when compared to England and Scotland. Another reason to say #20splenty where people are.
Chart of last 24 hours of electricity generation. Green line high above everything is wind power at 23GW, yellow solar line has a curved bump rising for the middle of the day to 8GW. Other lines below these show nuclear at 4GW and gas and transfers far below
It’s windy and sunny 🌞
Right now renewables are producing 71% of UK electricity.
Fossil fuels only 6%.

Mothers blocking streets to protect their children - and reclaim their streets - from cars. Top pic Whitley Bay, bottom Middlesbrough.
On Mothers’ Day, here’s to all the mothers who have fought in the past and in the present for children’s right to their streets and neighbourhoods, to play and hang out, to get around happily and safely, to breathe, and to belong.
Far too many to name, but thank you!
One of her classmates went as Dolly Parton?!?! 😂

Cover page of the book Rooftoppers with the title and author's babe Katherine Rundell, written mid and top of the cover, with a drawn picture of two children jumping across city roofs at sunrise.
Child dressed as Safi
For #WorldBookDay my kid went as Safi from the Rooftoppers. No-one knew who she was despite the obvious giveaway of the boys' clothes, tape measure belt and red 'blood' smear on her cheek. She felt rebellious not to be an obvious book character.
Done!
Bit late to posting day 4.
It's not always easy to talk about, but yesterday I had a conversation with another parent about wood burning, air pollution, asthma rates, cargo bikes, most journeys under 5km, car clubs, school streets, idling & dangerous driver behaviour... Lots to discuss & worth it!
Day 3: I delivered these excellent flyers about the pollution emitted by home wood burning to the Milton Road library in Cambridge. It can be surprising to learn how dangerous & harmful a fire burning in a gorgeous, ornate fireplace actually is!
Cough, splutter, wheeze.

Day 2: walking with large items... because you don't need a car to transport framed pictures.
Choosing the right tool for the job.

If you don't know we've moved from Hackney with a slow but full programme of school street implementation to Cambridge where school streets are 'volunteer patrolled' in the few places they exist.
Cambridge schools need ANPR-protected school streets so all kids can safely walk & cycle.

Don't blame parents, blame a health system that has multiple barriers to accessing care, resulting in low vaccination rates.
An excellent thread:
Social media companies aid and abet boys/men to comment and create content that is misogynistic and derogatory towards women.
It should be the moral AND LEGAL duty of SM companies to safeguard a 15yo who opens their app - ensuring she won't view such abuse.

LTNs and all their associated benefits are staying. Brilliant news and well done for a win for Bethnal Green, Tower Hamlets and London.
As for the school streets Mayor Rahman ripped out, they should now be reinstated under that same ruling, as they are part of LIP.
Wonderful news! 😀
Fantastic news! A well deserved re-election. 🙌

Absolutely. The entitled sitting on top of the cycle box at the lights, the micro aggressive close-follow or close-pass, the aggressive horn beeping and swearing, and super-aggressive progressing at me on my side of the road to bully me out the way on residential streets.
Every. time. I. cycle.
Without a change to decent investment (rather than current stop-start funding) and long-term planning and prioritisation, any efforts towards linking-up towns and cities with active travel routes will fail. And they need to succeed.

I won't be using the frame mount, does anybody want it?
Looks great, even if it's during set-up!
It's the route my children take to/from school by bike, on a fairly busy road. It's a huge improvement from having to 'take the lane', and it's well used. Anecdotally there are more kids cycling as it's so much safer for them.
