Yeah, 8 gets way too much flak.

Then again I'm biased- it's my favorite of the Classic series.

The game is controversial, yeah, but it has a surprising number of fans.

More power to them if they're finding something to enjoy in it, but every single time I try to play it I'm reminded why the combat doesn't jive with me (I feel like I don't have precise enough control, mainly).

A lot of these are interchangeable and frankly this isn't definitive. I've played a lot of Video Games.

How much exactly do I like Final Fantasy XIV?

Well enough I forgot this place existed for three weeks, apparently.

I love this game, but my biggest issue with it is the same as a lot of 'third in the trilogy' Atelier games. The old characters get a ton of love, but a lot of the new ones barely get the attention to justify their presence (Shallies aside).

Every year I hope for a Dusk 4 announcement.

You're doing a hero's work.

9 games that I dearly adore.

Gonna talk about these more in detail in coming days- I've been wanting to wax nostalgic and discuss some older titles anyhow.

There's a secret to their layout- most of which should be obvious. The middle row is special in that regard, however.

There's a lot of things this could potentially be, even a new IP. I'd be good with nearly anything, but...

If by some miracle this is a remaster of Tales of Destiny: DC, it would give me life.

Day 30: Your Next Final Fantasy Game

Either continuing with Heavensward or finally finishing FFVI, most likely.

An illustration of Haurchefant Greystone from Final Fantasy 14. His left side is facing us and his shield is covering most of his body as it's in the foreground. He is using his right hand to hold up his sword upwards and to his body. He has a somber expression on his face and blood splatters on his chain mail, chest, and face. There is a blood red moon behind him and a black background framing the entire illustration.

Also I absolutely had to pick, I would actually pick II. That game has a ton of neat ideas that are executed like shit.

Give it to the SaGa people, they've got the experience to turn that combat system into a winner.

Or just give us another SaGa game instead.

My hot take of the day is the Pixel Remasters not including the GBA or PSP content was absolutely the wrong choice. It isn't all good, but even a toggle to make that content accessible is a good idea.

At the very least II probably has the most interesting one, despite that game's problems.

Day 29: Final Fantasy You Want Remade Most

None of them. I'd rather we focus on better ways to preserve the older titles and make them more accessible as they were.

Also make new games learning from the old.

Day 28: Favorite Title Card Artwork

Final Fantasy X. The way the water is illustrated is absolutely beautiful.

I'm not counting ports with a bit of added content, so I've played 31, and beaten...wow, only 14? Fair enough, I had other games to play, but I should fix a few of those at some point.

I admit this isn't the most interesting question to me. The answer is basically any superboss, and everyone knows that.

More excited for tomorrow's question, to see how many of these games I've actually played.

Day 26: Most Difficult Boss Fight

Most of the optional content in FFX (and X-2, from what I recall) is up there.

If it counts, I'd say the real answer is most of the 'hard mode' fights from the MMOs, since they require coordination with other players.

Eorzea, Spira, and Gaia (both VII and IX's versions) are all big runner ups here.

Day 25: Favorite World/Setting

Ivalice, by an admittedly narrow margin. I think it won out in large part to having so many games that explore it in vastly different ways. I think the version in XII might win out as my favorite, but I love all the games that take place here (that I've played).

Day 24: Worst Minigame

The Lightning Dodging Minigame.

This is technically a minigame rather than a hazard since you're required to do it to unlock one of the ultimate weapons. This was, and still is, completely terrible.

Funny coincidence that my favorite and least favorite both come from FFX.

Day 23: Favorite Minigame

BLIIIIITZBALLLLLL!

Absolutely no irony here. It's jank beyond belief but I love it.

The most disappointing XIV news I ever heard was no Blizball for Dawntrail. I wanted to convince NPCs (Alphinaud) to join my team for the sheer silliness of it.

Maybe next time...

Day 22: Final Fantasy You Played Most

This one just feels skewed. It's Final Fantasy XIV, because it's an MMORPG and they take up a ton of your time.

That isn't even a diss- it isn't my favorite Final Fantasy, but I actually greatly enjoy XIV, especially in the story department.

Day 21: Favorite Armor Design

Dark Knight Cecil. It just looks cool and intimidating. He'd probably disagree with this sentiment lmao

I have nothing else to really add here- it's a neat look!

Day 20: Favorite Story

There's a lot of competition for this one...

Tactics has one of the best though, and every other title that might compete has some kind of issue that I think keeps them just shy of this title.

Also I'm a sucker for character duality.

Missed a few days, things got kinda busy. Technically failed, but I want to continue anyway.

Day 19: Favorite Supporting Character

Haurchefant Greystone from XIV. This man has your back no matter what, even when all your other allies fall through.

Literally found out through this post. Just as shocked as you, especially since I was just considering a replay.

Genuinely perked up my mood to hear about this.

Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII

Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII

Honorable Mention: Dirge of Cerberus is not nearly as bad as people say, it just needed more time in the oven. If any game deserves a remake using what Square's learned, it's this game.
